A new cancer vaccine could reach patients as soon as 2027.

Moderna and Merck have announced that their personalized cancer vaccine, intismeran autogene, succeeded in a phase 3 trial of 1,137 people with high-risk melanoma.

Each dose is made from scratch for a single patient. Doctors sequence the patient's tumor, find the mutations that make it different from healthy tissue, and build an mRNA vaccine that trains the immune system to hunt cells carrying those exact flags.

Given alongside the immunotherapy drug Keytruda, it significantly lowered the chance of the cancer returning or spreading compared with Keytruda alone.

Phase 3 is the final stage of testing before approval, and this is the first time a personalized mRNA cancer vaccine has cleared it. In an earlier, smaller trial, the combination cut the risk of recurrence or death by 49% over five years.

The companies haven't released exact phase 3 figures, and survival data aren't in yet, but they're now talking to regulators. Moderna says patients could receive it as early as 2027 if reviews go well.

🧠 An Experimental Drug Helped Repair Damaged Brain Insulation in Mice!

What if scientists could help the brain repair damaged nerve fibers instead of simply treating the symptoms? A promising experimental compound called LL-341070 may offer a new direction for research into diseases such as multiple sclerosis (MS).

Myelin is the protective coating around nerve fibers that helps electrical signals travel efficiently. When this coating is damaged, communication between the brain and body can become disrupted, sometimes affecting vision and movement.

In animal studies, LL-341070 stimulated the cells responsible for rebuilding myelin. Researchers also observed improvements in myelin repair and activity in brain pathways involved in visual processing.

The compound showed stronger effects than clemastine in the reported experiments.
Could damaged nerve pathways recover?

These findings raise exciting possibilities for future treatments that aim to repair damage rather than just manage symptoms. However, the research was conducted in animals, and scientists still need to determine whether the drug is safe and effective in humans.

The biggest question remains: could a treatment like this one day help restore functions affected by myelin damage? Further research may bring us closer to an answer.
