I've got my daughter on keto and I do it as well to support her. I also study Greek as a pass time so if I ever was to get a break this would be it. Thanks for sharing. @thelowcarb_rd I think doctors are slowly hearing the message. The Maudsley Hospital is setting up a metabolic clinic to investigate keto for serious mental illness. That is an enormous step in the right direction.

May I ask what time of the day the daily ketone readings were taken. If it was the morning would ketones be higher then than say 4:00 in the afternoon.

@bschermd 92 kg to 62 kg on a starting dose of clozapine of 550 mg. Near full remission of violent positive symptoms and catatonia. 100% compliance for currently 2 1/2 years. Which drug did we use? The ketogenic diet!

@Metabolic_Mind Four months isn't enough either. As I've said before it took two years before we had consecutive months without violence or use of restraint.

@Metabolic_Mind It took 2 years of ketosis before we registered 2 successive months without violence or use of restraint in a schizophrenic patient - may sound a long time but she spent the previous 8 years locked up on high security units - persist!

@Metabolic_Mind @tobypill Finally Maudsley is getting its act together. Bit worried about the insistence on using Clozapine and then the KD to offset the damage it does. Metabolic health and Clozapine are mutually exclusive. The benefits of a KD accelerated as we reduced Clozapine.

@ChrisPalmerMD I have witnessed cognitive dissonance in doctors who one would think ought to place great weight on the scientific process. Flat Earthers the lot of them. Direct them to me to see what a ketogenic diet can achieve which 17 psychiatrists using standard of care failed to achieve.

@ChrisPalmerMD "most psychiatrists" ? Come to Leicester, England and speak to the 17 psychiatrists I've had dealings with and you can replace "most" with "a minority" if any. Still without your blind optimism Dr Palmer you (we) wouldn't be making these life saving changes.
