Next month, my partner and I will be participating in the Shitbox Rally to raise funds for @CancerCouncilOz
Almost 1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85, so it's no wonder that this awful disease has touched all of our lives in one way or another.
We are rallying in honour of several friends and family effected by cancer, but in particular we are making this journey in memory of our beloved dog Bonnie, who sadly passed away earlier this year after being diagnosed with oral melanoma.
Forgot to post here that I finished my #PhD last year!
This week, I'm starting a new project on pulse plant architecture after securing a postdoctoral fellowship from @theGRDC
If you want updates on what I'm up to, I will be posting on the other app (simonmichelmore.🦋.social)

my sincerest congratulations to Dr. Tony Fischer for receiving @CrawfordFund
award for his lifetime contribution to #FoodSecurity.
He shared how a question asked by a colleague back in 1960s still haunts him "How will we feed the world?" and with Science we can.
Great morning session at ILS4 continues with @SimonsPea_hD presenting a flash presentation on his PhD research on shoot branching in peas! #ilsgranada2023
mildly miffed that I’m spending the last few precious hours of my 20’s at work watering plants and moving numbers around in spreadsheets.
Thirty, flirty and thriving… #phdlife
protocol: “evaporate to dryness under vacuum”
reality: “explosively boil samples under vacuum spraying them all over the vacuum chamber”

I admit being a little worried when I typed "speed breeding" into google on a work computer. Research. Honest. I wanted more information after reading Groundcover issue 163; Accelerated breeding used for genetic gain in chickpeas. https://t.co/POPRvibe68
@KatelynJButler perhaps, given their sessile nature, plants have more to gain from the adaptive potential that polyploidy brings, so they can afford the cost?
