@Kelvinmwendwa__ It reminds me of a project I took up in analytics engineering at work. It's been a steep ride, but I love flexibility in the creativity needed to deal with blockers. And it's almost daily. :-)
I have come into this quiet realization that I will never be a light-skinned woman man. My woman is chocolate colored. She is dark. She is not black. Black is a cat. A polythene paper. Black is a night. That is not my woman. My woman is dark. A very specific tinge of dark found - predominantly - in the Luhya women of Kenya.
Why? I guess because dark is familiar. My mother was dark. My 1st love was dark. Maybe because dark is a mystery on its own. You can't tell the scratches and scars until you lean in. And who doesn't like a little mystery? Dark is a book that is yet to be unravelled, pages waiting to be turned.
But more importantly, dark is not loud. It does not say, "here I am, please see me. Please acknowledge me." It's the quiet cloud on a sunny day. That I am, whether you see me or not. I exist. And that's my woman.
That is not to say I haven't and would not date a light skinned woman. I have dated light skinned all the way to White-skinned. My affections are not subject to politics. My passion, not an act of activism. I love who I love: wherever, whenever, however. It is entirely my prerogative.
But the passion Kelly Rowland ignited in me I never found in Beyonce. Give me my coffee and leave me alone, man. You can keep Fanta. And, thus, we must part ways amicably. You must love who you love, when you will it. Be they one-legged, one-eyed, or pink in colour. My grievances should not be your compass in these turbulent waters of passion.
Let's call Cheruiyot Kirui's death spot on Mt #Everest (8848.86 m) 'Cheruiyot Point' honoring the first African almost to the summit of Everest without using supplementary oxygen.
If I’m in a group setting and the person speaking is kinda getting ignored, I make eye contact with them and give a reassuring nod as I listen to what they’re saying so they don’t feel left out.
You get into Data Analytics thinking you're going to build dashboards and find insights into data.
And then you get your first Data Analyst job and you start working with real data. You find out it's a lot more than dashboards. You're aggregating data from multiple data sources, you're Q/Aing pipelines and working through stored procedures/jobs to figure out why the data isn't coming in right, and cleaning all this messy data coming in from a clients automated csv exports because they can't change it on their end.
Data Analytics is a lot more than creating dashboards. I'd say it's been less than 10% of my job working as a Data Analyst.
Urging people to be positive doesn’t boost their resilience. It denies their reality.
When times are tough, we don’t need good vibes only. We need a hand to keep us steady through all the vibrations.
Strength doesn’t come from forced smiles. It comes from feeling supported.

And when you pray tonight…pray for the ability to master your emotions. We often struggle with our emotions due to personal experiences and trauma. However, you need to let go off the past. There’s so much power in knowing when and how to react.
I was raised by ethical people and I observed how easy it made their lives. so I decided to be highly ethical and it makes your life very easy: You are quick to be believed, you are quick to be helped. People like to have you around, they want to work with you & recommend you.
This is the flowchart of how slack decides to send a notification.
It is a great example of why a simple feature may take much longer to develop than many people think.
When we have a great design, users may not notice the complexity because it feels like the feature just working as intended.
What’s your takeaway from this diagram?
