Contrarian take: the US doesn’t want this to end yet.
Everyone’s calling for a ceasefire. But timing matters more than sentiment.
• Washington still has room to monetize hydrocarbons exports before second-order shocks start impacting its economy. We have seen some impact on bond rates and Treasuries, but every time oil reaches $115, market manipulations bring the price down.
• Jerome Powell remains in office until May 15 → which effectively rules out any rate cut signal at the late-April Fed meeting.
The next real policy window opens only after its chosen successor is in place, pushing any credible timing for a rate cut to mid-June.
That gives Donald Trump a clear runway: early May to mid-June to bring hydrocarbon prices down before monetary easing comes back into play.
• The US–China summit in May 2026 (May 14–15) loses leverage if tensions cool too early
Meanwhile, the system is adapting faster than expected:
• Gulf hydrocarbons are finding alternative routes
• China came prepared
• Russian barrels are back to the market and
• The endgame for Hezbollah, Lebanon, and Israel is still unresolved
Translation: there’s no urgency to de-escalate.
This drags on a bit longer.
Enjoy the theatrics.
One thing this crisis showed us as Emirati … our expatriate population living here in the UAE truly love us more than anything.
THANK YOU for standing up for the UAE … you once again won our hearts & minds

Even the little details such as serving a bottle of mineral water to all passengers was not missed. And today I witnessed how the crew handled a passenger who became ill mid flight. Amazing job! Very creditable. This was in Mangalore Abu Dhabi flight IX 815 on August 17, 2024.
This is my 4th Air India flight this month. In the past I was disappointed with the quality of the service, the cleanliness inside the aircraft and the efficiency of managing passengers. I had stopped using Air India completely. @airindiax#FlyAsYouAre#FrictionlessJourneys
But this year I gave it a try after the Tata’s took over the management. I’m quite impressed by the speed in which the quality standards have improved. Not just is the crew doing a commendable job.
Extremely proud of my son. As a tribute to India’s Independence Day, he broke his personal best record and did a free dive of 55m depth in one breath 🤯
Also, this is the deepest point available for a controlled dive in Dubai. Now, he will have to practice in other countries 🤩
In September this year, he is representing India 🇮🇳 for the world freediving championship in France.
This is absolutely amazing. Especially as he has to voluntarily slow down his heart rate to conserve body oxygen as he goes to such lung crushing depths ❤️
The spirit. The sheer dedication.
It has to be poetry. It has to be meditation.
Flew Air India from Dxb to Mum after much apprehension following the bad reviews on X. It was a pleasant surprise to find a competent team on ground and in air. Young, and raring to serve. Squeaky clean craft. Food was well served too. Kudos @airindia
@NiallHarbison So adorable are these pups and so kind are you!! Thanks for being there for them. You have earned your badge of good deed and you will surely be rewarded for your noble work. 💕
Yesterday at Rithala.
My father, Prof VK Tripathi, and I, along with dedicated activists, distributed fliers in the Rithala area. Mixed response.

@shekharkapur@sheela2010@mkoirala To me it was one long and tiring fashion week show.. no character pulled the heartstrings no song left a lasting memory no dance reminded me of a bygone era no dialogue tickled my wit and no story moved my heart.
@shekharkapur@sheela2010@mkoirala I’d rather pay money to watch any movie or show you create Shekhar ji.. nothing parallels your cinematic genius.. how you skillfully recreate the Elizabethan era or a slick Bollywood movie! Would love to see you poke around with Indian history!
