Yes, CNG can make a converted bus cheaper to run. But the driver still buys expensive tyres, spare parts and food — and the passenger’s empty pocket has no conversion kit.

After the subsidy-removal shock travelled from the filling station to the motor park, the farm, the market and finally the Nigerian kitchen, 120,000 converted vehicles cannot be presented as salvation for over 200 million people.

The problem is no longer simply what powers the bus.

It is whether Nigerians can afford to board it.

If you import goods from China, I need you to pay attention to what is happening now. More than ever before, more Chinese marketers are coming to Naija to set up warehouses. This is happening at a scale never seen before. I will tell you a short story.

A big industrialist in Onitsha once shared the story of a man who offloads tens of containers weekly from China containing shovels, pans and other building components. Recently, one of the women he sources goods from in China opened a retail warehouse in Asaba and sells at a cheaper price. The man's import dropped drastically.

They are directly trying to cut off the middlemen right here at home. They are using content creators and influencers to push their warehouses and service centres.

Once they capture the retail import market, next will be to establish the factories themselves to produce those items here. This is already happening in Ogun and parts of Oyo and Osun states. Many lands in these areas have been purchased by the Chinese for construction of factories in the near future.

If you have the money now and can afford to invest for the long term, start thinking of producing here or find a part of that value chain you can support the production.

I am not just giving empty advice. I have invested in prime land and I'm currently studying their business approach to figure out how to tap into this emerging market and the sector I'll understand better.

Soon, "Obyno & Sons Ltd, importers and exporters" will become a thing of the past.

The Chinese have the deep pockets to win this market. Instead of fighting them, find a value chain connection so we can all create wealth and employment for our people.

The GPS tracker that was attached to my vehicle by @OfficialDSSNG during my visit to the @NigBarAssoc Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt contains a KORE-branded SIM card, with ICCID number 89883070000061116842.

KORE Wireless is an Atlanta, Georgia-based company that provides global IoT connectivity and SIM solutions.

The critical question now is: who subscribed to and activated this SIM, and who was receiving the location data from the tracker?

We will continue pursuing every lead to establish the subscriber and those responsible for placing the tracker on my vehicle.
