Project Update: The @CLEANAirAfrica project has concluded a 3-day standardized training for VHTs on Household Air Pollution (HAP) using TeachBox in Jinja District

The trainers, drawn from Lung Institute researchers, Jinja District Health Team and the Ministry of Health Uganda , have successfully concluded the Trainers of Trainers orientation on TeachBox.

Dr. Ivan Kimuli @ikimuli2020 in his closing remarks, congratulated the pioneer cohort for completing a transformative training advancing health promotion, empowering VHTs, and strengthening Household Air Pollution (HAP) prevention awareness in Uganda.

He appreciated the TeachBox experts and the entire CLEAN-Air(Africa) programme for championing digital innovation in public health education, and encouraged trainers to actively share feedback on the platform’s usability. Equipped with tablets, the trainers are now set to roll out this impactful initiative.

Moved by the innovative TeachBox, Dr. @RichardKabanda2 the Commisioner Health Promotion @MinofHealthUG pledged to engage the Lung Institute to integrate it into Community Health Extension Worker training manuals so frontline workers can better educate communities on clean cooking and the dangers of air pollution.

In partnership with the @LivUni University of Liverpool and @CLEANAirAfrica, @ProfDanPope introduced the CAA Community Household Air Pollution Prevention Programme (CHAP-PP) which is being implemented in Kenya, Cameroon and Rwanda.

The initiative is set to empower Community Health Extension Workers as ambassadors for clean cooking and air pollution awareness advancing lung health across communities

The @MinofHealthUG & @MEMD_Uganda officials were introduced to the TeachBox 625 digital platform under the @CLEANAirAfrica program on prevention of Household Air Pollution. This was during the Training of Trainers who will support the training of CHWs.
TeachBox 625 will be used to train CHWs in Jinja district.

The training will equip teams and Community Health Extension Workers to become ambassadors educating communities on prevention of household air pollution, clean cooking solutions, and prevention of respiratory diseases to improve lung health across Africa.
