Pakistani leftists, liberals, and wannabe centrists may feel as if the rug has been pulled from under their feet. They have been trying to find their history in mythological texts rather than analyzing ancient ruins and archaeological evidence.

If the RSS has acknowledged the facts first, it may also be the first to twist them to serve its own interests.

Agreed! But this was quoted as the 'powers to be'- at least most have looted & cheated the people of our great nation. Today with the pretense of being a 'democracy'- we have slipped into an 'autocracy'! No offence to anyone-but it is a fact that the plight of the common man has not changed much since independence. Major issues- 'illiteracy & disease', still plague the nation. Focus remains appeasing the upper caste/class.
