Quickmart CEO Peter Kang’iri highlighted the importance of cost discipline and working capital management in supermarket retail:

— Staff costs account for ~6% of sales and rent 2.5–3.5%, meaning the two largest cost lines consume almost 10% of revenue, with total operating costs expected to remain within 14–15% of sales and other costs capped at ~5%.

— Retailers must optimise working capital by balancing inventory levels, supplier payment terms and cash positions, with Quickmart targeting an inventory conversion period of 28–30 days.

— The key metric in retail is how efficiently a business converts inventory into cash while maintaining stock availability and supplier relationships.

Something funny happened today in Ol Kalau, the government was at Gwa Kiongo Dam earlier today, donated 2 speadboats worth Ksh. 5M and fingerlings plus handouts running into millions of shillings. After they left, residents called the DCP candidate Sammy Kamau Ngotho, waited for him patiently and guess what? They handed him part of the handouts that the government gave them😳😳😳😳. They went greeting him with the money the government gave them. Urging him not to campaign in the area as all votes were his. The government is finding it soo hard in Mt Kenya
