@Trishehhhhh My daughter bawled on the first Friday after school (2 days into first year) for precisely the same reasons. It took a few weeks for her to settle, then she thrived. She had the same reaction to 3rd level. Reassure your girl she is not alone in this. Change can be hard.

@eoinmauricedaly Your legal name is the name that is yours by ‘use and by repute’. It’s not necessarily your registered name. Your registered name is what’s on your birth cert but your legal name is actually what you are known by. My MPhil dissertation topic was on this topic. Listen to her.

@oogamusic Agree. I use Loop silicone earplugs anywhere it’s noisy. They reduce noise by 27db but you can still hear people etc. I paid €20 for them and they come in a little plastic case which I put in my pocket or purse. Best money I ever spent. No affiliation to them, just like them.

@KGMcGuigan @annecrecipes @LindaDoyle Agree fully. I have studied for 4 degrees (UG + PG) at 4 different universities in Ireland and the UK: DCU, TCD, OU and Aston University. Of the 4, I’d rank TCD as the least impressive on any metric and yet I’m sure they would consider themselves the superior university of all.

@saoirse_mchugh I did. It took me two long waits. The first time I gave up at 45 mins; the second time I was answered in around 50 minutes. To be fair, the person who answered was very courteous and helpful and the issue was resolved within about 20 minutes. Horrible service overall though.
