SPLM Reaffirms Readiness for 2026 Elections

The SPLM has reaffirmed its readiness for South Sudan’s upcoming general elections and welcomed the release of the national electoral calendar.

The resolution was adopted during a leadership meeting chaired by SPLM Chairman and President Salva Kiir Mayardit, attended by Second Deputy Chairperson Mary Apai and Third Deputy Chairman Simon Kun Pouch.

The party said the electoral calendar marks a new phase of political mobilisation and organisational preparedness ahead of the 2026 elections.

A traditional healer locally known as Jjajja Bamweyana, a resident of Busabala in Makindye-Sabagabo Municipality, Wakiso District, was among the victims of @nemaug's recent eviction.

He says his “evil spirits” have started terrorizing residents since his shelter was demolished. Jjajja Bamweyana has threatened to abandon them, warning that whatever happens to the locals will be the responsibility of the authorities who carried out the eviction.
