As the World Cup Begins Without Nigeria
As the World Cup begins today across three nations, I identify with our teeming football followers and urge them not to be despondent that Nigeria is not participating, despite the abundant talent in our land.
Our failure to participate on the global stage is not due to a deficit of talent; it is a direct consequence of a deficit in leadership, planning, and institutional support.
The task of building a better Nigeria rests primarily on the shoulders of the younger generation. Do not watch the World Cup with despair; rather, see it as a reminder of where Nigeria ought to be. We must move our country from being a nation of mere consumers of global entertainment to a nation of proud producers and competitors.

In continuation of my quest to deepen knowledge and impact positively on our society, yesterday June 10th, in London, I held a series of important engagements, including a fruitful meeting with Alex Vines, Director of the Africa Programme at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR).
Our discussions focused on strengthening strategic relationships and fostering a deeper understanding of Africaâs evolving role in global affairs. It was emphasized that Africa must no longer be viewed merely through the prism of statistics or humanitarian concern, but as a serious and equal partner in shaping the future global order, much like India, Indonesia, and other emerging centres of influence.
During our engagement, it became increasingly clear that Africa, and Nigeria in particular, must be placed at the centre of international conversations on partnership, trade, governance, innovation, and sustainable development.
Constructive dialogue and mutual respect remain essential to building meaningful cooperation between Africa and the international community.

To the @NigeriaNDCHQ
I have been silent on your internal affairs I decided to give you the benefit of the doubt.
But youâve taken much for granted. Far too much! My silence ends now! Theo Abu & Brian Dennis are misfits. There are far more decent Nigerians out there who can run your media.
Appointing the duo already puts you at the short end of the stick. You leave yourselves exposed to attacks from every quarter.
I am no politician; what I am is Obidientâan ardent supporter, no less. I see your disdain for My People. Your war against us is far from subtle. Your handwriting is clear enough for all to read. I see you arenât out to win minds & hearts; you are out for vendetta. Perhaps to settle scores you made up in your heads.
Who appoints political jobbers to run their Media? Boys without a modicum of reputation. Whose minds can those boys change? Almost everyone has them on a blocked list. They are pariahs as far Political Twitter is concerned.
Both cannot win their polling units. They are errand boys to Abuja politicians; they have zero electoral values. To add salt to injury, both are anti-Peter Obi. The NDC is unthinking & unyielding, brash even! I canât believe what my eyes have seen. I have been holding back. I had hoped to see a sharp departure from others.
But I was wrong, SO WRONG! So I take back all the reviews. Youâve shown me who you are, & I believe you! Who appoints notorious charlatans @TheoAbuAgada & @XBrianDennis to head their Media Communications Department?
Itâs obvious the NDC as a party is out to shut the Obidients out. Itâs obvious they are out of touch with the realities out there on the streets.
Perhaps, youâve overestimated yourselves?
Both boys are on my blocked list. I have them nestled in there since 2023. Worse still, your party is enmeshed in allegations of corruption across almost all 36 states & the FCT.
What kind of party are you running? Are you that hungry? Are you that cheap? Your mess is rubbing off on upstanding citizens like us.
Each time you mess up, Peter Obi is the one that bears much of the brunt. He is now in the line of fire. Your house is on fire. How many fires are you going to put out? I am drama free, but I donât like what I hate. I am opinionated, I have strong opinions. If others have chosen to be silent, I WONâT! I hate injustice of any kind!
I have never asked anyone for anything, NEVER!
As far as Twitter goes, I have no rap sheet. I have my own money. YES! I am no political jobber. I have never been paid to tweet, NEVER!
I am not on anyoneâs payroll. Peter Obi remains the only presidential candidate I have ever campaigned for, at least since 2017. I DO IT FREE OF CHARGE! And yet, Iâve never met him.
We have no relationship, no connection whatsoever. He doesnât have any of my contacts, except perhaps Twitter (otherwise X).
For a party that is supposed to be different from others, the NDC is already being accused of selling its tickets to the highest bidders.
How do you reconcile that with your body language & what you preach? You are in the eye of the storm. Sadly, you donât know that!
I did not build my reputation for you to come & tarnish it. I have a reputation to protect. I will call a spade what it is. The NDC must come clean & clear their name. Who got what? Who paid who? I wonât be part of what I criticize.
You know me to be unhinged. I was mad long before I was born. I may be wrong, but I donât think you are out to win the 2027 election.
You are playing the long gameâto arrive at a predetermined outcome. I wonât tell Seriake Dickson what to do. But I will do what Iâm supposed to do! What Iâm compelled to do!
Morals & values must return in Nigeria. We must restore the throne of good men.
You have time to course correct; if you so wish. At the end of the day, I will leave you with no doubt whatsoever. My name is Nefertiti, I remain your First Lady. I will say no more! âïž
Exponential increase in revenue with excessive borrowing: Yet more hardship for Nigerians!
In celebrating three years of his administration, President Bola Tinubu included, among his achievements, an increase in revenue from N16.8 trillion in 2022 to N35 trillion in 2025. An increase of over 100%.
Shockingly, while Nigerians expected a reduction in borrowing with the exponential increase in revenue, the opposite is the case. In just three years, President Bola Tinubuâs government seems to be obsessed with excessive and imprudent borrowing, with our total debt currently about N200 trillionâa deeply disturbing increase of over N100 trillion.
In addition to the exponential increases in both revenue and debt, it is also important to note that Nigeria has earned far more than the budget revenue targets due to global and regional geoeconomic and political tensions.
Alarmingly, even with the astronomical increase in both revenue and debt, almost all key socio-economic and governance indicators are worse than in 2023. Multi-dimensional poverty has increased from 87 million people in 2023 to over 140 million people in 2025. Rapidly increasing unemployment and a decline in GDP per capita from $1,597 in 2023 to $1,223 in 2025, and the list goes on.
Just more and more hardship for Nigerians! The question Nigerians and even the international community are asking is, âWhere did all the money go?â
Nigerians deserve a detailed and transparent explanation of what happened to our economy and financial resources since 2023, and a stop to the imprudent, unaccountable, and opaque management of our common patrimony.

Excessive Borrowing Without Accountability: Further Affirmation of Imprudent Governance.
President Bola Tinubu's administration has engaged in remarkably imprudent borrowing, escalating Nigeria's total debt to approximately N200 trillion. This represents an increase of over N100 trillion within a mere three years, a stark contrast to the roughly N49 trillion accumulated during President Muhammadu Buhari's eight-year tenure, which would have projected to around N80 trillion. As millions of Nigerians grapple with the shock of this unsustainable debt accumulation, the situation is exacerbated by the government's reckless approach to borrowing and a profound absence of accountability and transparency in the utilisation of these funds.
For instance, data from the Federation's Budget Office reveals that the Bola Tinubu government borrowed N11.89 trillion in the first three quarters of 2025 (January to September), exceeding the planned borrowing target of N10.34 trillion by approximately N1.54 trillion. Under a responsible and accountable government, such an overshoot would necessitate rigorous scrutiny and explanation from relevant governmental bodies. Regrettably, this is not the reality under the current administration.
Compounding this issue, only N3.10 trillion of the borrowed funds was allocated to capital expenditure during the same January-September 2025 period. This constitutes a mere 17.66% of the N17.58 trillion earmarked for capital projects, leaving a deficit of roughly N14.48 trillion, or 82.34% of planned capital expenditure unfunded.
The most disturbing aspect of the financial management fiasco under Bola Tinubu is that there is no explanation or information regarding how the balance was utilised or deployed. The question that Nigerians are rightly asking and deserve an answer to is what happened to the balance? Was it deployed for recurrent expenditure/ consumption, for the entertainment of guests to Aso Rock or transferred to the Renewed Hope Agenda 2027 Election Campaign Fund? Nigerians deserve an answer on how our economy and resources are most unpatriotically managed.

Building a Healthier Nigeria Through Stronger Healthcare Systems
As part of our desire and commitment to building a healthier Nigeria, I met with some healthcare professionals and experts in the United States on Friday, June 5, 2026. The meeting was essentially to deepen my understanding of how successful health insurance systems deliver improved healthcare, especially in the areas of primary and emergency care.
One of our key health objectives remains unchanged: to expand health insurance coverage, strengthen primary healthcare across our electoral wards, train more healthcare workers, and make quality healthcare accessible and affordable for all Nigerians.
A New Nigeria must be a healthier Nigeria.
A New Nigeria is possible. -PO
No, most stats Peter Obi gave at the EU session are accurate or fair approximations:
- Nigeria pop ~242M (2026) is ~half the EUâs ~450M â correct.
- Africa: 2nd largest continent by size & population â yes.
- ~60% of Africaâs population young (under 25) â standard fact.
- 100M+ Nigerians in multidimensional poverty â yes (earlier data: 133M).
- Millions of out-of-school children â yes (~18-20M estimates).
- Per capita gap (Nigeria low thousands vs EU $40k+) â directionally right.
- Nigeria ~quarter of EU land area (~4.2M kmÂČ) â reasonable.
The claim that *all* stats are wrong doesnât hold. Theyâre broadly solid for a speech.
What Our Pervasive Insecurity Requires: A Holistic not Reactive Approach.
In a hasty effort to be perceived as attentive and courageous, it is reported that President Bola Tinubu has approved the recruitment of about 1000 forest guards for Oyo State. This is a further demonstration of poor leadership and attending to very serious governance and security issues with a reactive approach. It is the same reactive approach that led to the sudden removal of fuel subsidy and floating of the Naira that has caused irreparable damage to ordinary Nigerians and the economy.
While recruiting more security personnel for Oyo state and the country is important, it should be done in a more organised and well-thought-out manner. Presently, almost all the 36 states in Nigeria are experiencing different forms of insecurity, with Oyo, Plateau, Kwara, Kogi, Borno, Katsina, Anambra, Niger, Imo, and Sokoto being very alarming.
The question, such as the reactive approach of our President, is whether all the states will receive the same approval to recruit 1000 forest guards per state, that is 37, 000 forest guards for the 36 states and Abuja or is the recruitment approval based on the mood of the President? Moreover, with the approval for Oyo, what will happen to the Amotekun Corps that is trying its best to secure South-West Nigeria?. Will they be disbanded in Oyo state?
The pervasive insecurity we currently have is directly related to the failure of our ecosystem, particularly leadership. It is only failure in leadership that can lead to the death of over 10,000 innocent Nigerians since 2023, and Nigeria is ranked among the top-most terror-affected countries in the world.
Addressing our insecurity situation requires a holistic or what can be described as an ecosystem approach. With failure in leadership, there is failure in unifying our dear nation, failure in industrialisation, failure in harnessing our abundant resources in agriculture, minerals, tourism, water, sports and even oil and gas to effectively generate required revenue, growth and particularly jobs for our exponentially growing youth population.
A New and Productive Nigeria will be POssible, and we will be OK! -P0
Just a few days ago, in light of the ongoing Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) situation, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) issued a directive for revised entry requirements for all flights bound for Nigeria. This was also in response to the @WHO designation of the Ebola outbreak as a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC).
My recently published OpEd with @PremiumTimesng speaks to containing ongoing infectious disease crises and protecting frontline health workers and communities.

Dear Young Nigerians,
One lesson from the 2023 elections, particularly in Lagos, should never be forgotten.
In the period following the presidential election and leading up to the governorship election, we witnessed a troubling shift in public discourse. Conversations that should have focused on competence, governance, development, and the future of our nation were gradually diverted towards tribal sentiments, ethnic divisions, and unnecessary suspicion among citizens.
Many sincere and well-meaning Nigerians participated in these conversations without realising that they were being drawn into narratives carefully designed by others.
Throughout history, whenever politicians find it difficult to compete on ideas, performance, character, or vision, some resort to exploiting the fault lines of ethnicity, religion, and identity. Their calculation is simple: a divided people are easier to manipulate than a united people.
Today, I see similar efforts emerging again, sometimes in more subtle and sophisticated ways. Narratives are planted, amplified, and circulated, often by individuals who genuinely believe they are defending a worthy cause, without recognizing the broader agenda behind such campaigns.
Let me state clearly that Pastor Enoch Adeboye remains one of the foremost fathers of faith in our nation. For decades, he has consistently preached the virtues of peace, prayer, love, reconciliation, and national unity. Even when faced with provocation, his response has always reflected humility, restraint, wisdom, and grace.
At 84 years of age, it would be unfair for young and able-bodied Nigerians to transfer to him responsibilities that properly belong to them. The task of building a better Nigeria rests primarily on the shoulders of the younger generation. It is their duty to lead the conversations, champion the reforms, and drive the positive change our nation urgently requires.
We must be careful not to become instruments in the hands of those who secretly nurture division while publicly preaching unity. In most cases, their target is not the individual being attacked; instead, it is the person who is attacking. Their real objective is to weaken the bonds that hold us together as one people and one nation.
I therefore urge all young Nigerians: do not allow anyone to recruit you into hatred. Do not allow anyone to weaponise your ethnicity, your faith, or your admiration for respected leaders.
Question every narrative. Verify every claim. Follow the facts. Resist manipulation.
The Nigeria of our dreams can only be built by citizens who refuse to be divided, who choose unity over hatred, and who place our collective future above narrow interests.

Please release these children for the sake of our shared humanity
I am deeply shocked and heartbroken by the condition in which these abducted school children are, as seen from their flagellated bodies. It is a painful reminder of the depth of insecurity in our land.
I have always made it clear that the society we abuse today will take its revenge on our children tomorrow. When I first began making that statement, some of these children were not even born. This is a classic example of how the abuse of governance and society today can produce devastating consequences long after the abusers are gone.
It is on the same line that I argue that the loans our leaders take today will hurt our children in the future, as many of them will mature for repayment and consequences long after we are gone.
To those holding these children, I make a direct appeal to your conscience. Remember that these are innocent children - sons and daughters of people who have placed their hopes, dreams, and entire future in them. In every one of them, you will find reflections of your own children, your own family, and your own humanity.
No grievance, no hardship, no justification can ever outweigh the sanctity of a childâs life and innocence. Whatever path has led to this moment, there is still room for remorse, for humanity, and for a change of heart.
I therefore appeal to your sense of mercy: release these children immediately. Let them go. Return them safely to society to reunite with their families. -PO
The latest shadow ban is crazy.
1.2 million people signed up to follow my posts here, and only 10,000 are being allowed to see what I post
Very interesting situation.
"We have platformed."
And that right there is where your problem starts. You still believe that YOU platformed Peller and his fellow creatures of the Nigerian brainrot swamp. Let me break the news to you:
THE. ALGORITHMS. ARE. BLACK. BOXES.
You do NOT know what goes into them and how they work. That story you heard that "the algorithm only shows you more of what you engage with" is a completely false statement, right up there with "crypto is decentralised and outside the state's control."
People have actually tried to take the platforms to court to open up their algorithms to public scrutiny, and the US court ruling which you can Google and read by yourself said that THE ALGORITHMS ARE PROPRIETARY. In other words, they are protected by IP law and you legally are not allowed to know how they actually work!
You did not platform any of these people! White guys in Silicon Valley did! You are not the one "making stupid people famous". Larry Ellison, Elon Musk, Sergey Brin and Mark Zuckerberg are the ones deciding who becomes famous in your society.
That is exactly why western social media platforms are banned in China and Russia - they want to retain the power to determine their own internal conversation. And by the way, China was accused of using TikTok to engineer US society the same way, which is why TikTok USA was forced to sell a controlling stake to Larry Ellison.
Stop misdiagnosing your problem, which is lack of sovereignty. "Nigerians are stupid and like stupid things" is not an intelligent explanation of how the world works! Only a simple minded person takes everything at face value even when superior information is so readily available.
Arsenal's Title Victory And The Emotional Colonization Of Africans
Why are so many Africans so passionate about non-African football teams winning a game thousands of miles away from the continent? Why is so much money, time and energy channeled towards the professional and personal lives of wealthy foreign athletes in a continent where anywhere between 40 and 50% of the entire population lives in multi-dimensional poverty?
What does this fact say about the priorities of the average African? And who ultimately benefits from this mass distraction?
