@Om
and I met as strangers, seated next to each other at a brunch close to twenty years ago. He started asking the realest questions before the coffee even hit the table. The kind most people never think to ask. He was the glue behind countless lifelong friendships, the Omies and beyond, because he showed up. He listened. He cared deeply. He gave it all away like it cost him nothing. For years he hounded me to write. Sent me his drafts like dares. Asked when I was finally going to put something of my own into the world. I never did. So here it is. The first thing I have ever published c/o his best friend @Photomatt
.... and of course its is about him.
That was the whole thing about Om. He had this uncanny way of making you feel like the only person in the room. He saw people. He saw me, even the parts I keep hidden. I don't let people in. I never have. Somewhere along the way I decided that if I let someone really know me, they would leave, or they would die. Om found the door anyway.
@Om , I'm not sure I know how to do this thing called life without you, brother. But I am choosing to believe you are just onto the next chapter. Already curious. Thank you for seeing me.
@brycent@nattyshaps This is a smart take. And yet, you still see no one investing in “consumer” avoiding it because of “the cost” to “acquire users”, right there is the trap. Great consumer products make you feel something so trust must be earned and invested in. Value, feeling of product is king.
@alex_prompter The companies should act like cashiers at the liquor store; show a license you are above age. If they don’t, they are liable for the outcome. Same with bars and people hurt via DUI. If you want to program a swarm; you need a license, verifiable identity so there is accountability
@ICK_GalG@DanielSLoeb1 Something Jews globally historically did but more of .. but greed and power have disconnected people from “Anyone who destroys life is considered to have destroyed an entire world, and anyone who saves a life, is as if he saves and entire world. “
@markpinc@sama@rekatz Misinformation continues to do more damage than any conventional weapon could. People say they want the truth here but that would be incorrect. No matter how many posts people make, no one changes their mind. that’s not why people are here. A new incentive model can however.
for a long time i said that antisemitism, particularly on the american left, was not as bad as people claimed.
i'd like to just state that i was totally wrong.
i still don't understand it, really. or know what to do about it.
but it is so fucked.
@sarah_cone Rye, Pumpernickel milled the right way has a low glycemic effect and if you consume with a butter or fat, ala cheese, it slows the absorption as well. Good for gut health too
