Seeing a lot of people sharing this article and complaining about big pharma causing high drug costs… while working at institutions where Neulasta is marked-up 300% or a PET scan costs > $10k 🤔

@BiotechElmo@Biopharmaddict @OxAnalyst ATTRibute-CM topline PR going to begin: "Tell me, O Muse, of that drug Acoramidis and its many winding benefits in all cause mortality and cardiovascular hospitalization"
@ablT315I@JacobPlieth More like a story of, whoops our drug doesn't work by its proposed MOA. But hey, phosphorothioates have known myelotox, let's run MDS and MPN trials!
@sentivcapital@bradloncar@BiotechTVHQ Are they really considering doing an ex-US superiority trial for wAMD (OTX-TKI vs. a sub-standard anti-VEGF regimen)? How would that help them?
@BiotechElmo@Biohazard3737@buysidebio Yeah... interesting idea but lots of questions for a tech like this.
Can one bait capture the diversity of autoreactive clones (combat epitope spreading)?
Risk of actually generating an ADA response?
Is ASGPR really the right target for directing efficient degradation?
@PTarantinoMD Doubt the authors would agree with the characterization of their drug as “non-targeted”.
Plenty of data flies in the face of the idea that drugs like Enhertu are just half-life extended chemo. Ranging from preclinical (PBS vs iso-DXd vs Ab-DXd) to clinical (different tox by Ab).
@XBIObserver Honestly, it's nice to see some conversation finally happening around anti-competitive bundling.
The practice of getting payors to grant formulary exclusivity for product A on the basis of discounts to other products B and C is ugly.
@curiouswavefn@Chemjobber 3. Comp to historical data
Looks like median RFS is ~18 months? Is that obviously better than other approaches (remember this is looking at the better prognosis set of PDAC patients whose disease is potentially resectable)?
@curiouswavefn@Chemjobber 2. Immortal time bias
The paper and most of the media on this study talk about the 16 patients whose tumor was resected, and went on to have adjuvant anti-PDL1 +vacccine.
A better denominator really seems like the 28 patients who underwent surgery.
But is it really?
The story could have just been titled ‘tumor suppressor mechanism, well… uh, suppresses tumors’.
The idea of telomere lengthening to extend lifespan has always been decisively middling at best.
@Biomaven Not like I am biased or anything… but that was not a great review.
Was hyper-focused on dismantling the SIR2 data in invertebrates and SIRT1 data in mice. But just spent two paragraphs on SIRT6, weirdly acknowledging Tg mice lived longer, but it didn’t matter for humans?
@Sanctuary_Bio $FHTX is def a guilty pleasure of mine. It is just refreshing to see a small company use their platform to develop against fairly novel targets. Would much rather have stake in someone being one of the first to target BRM, ARID1 or BRD9 than the fiftieth to target HER2 or CD19.
@buysidebio Huh…TIL. Not an eye guy, but just seems weird - you bring someone in for a study visit, evaluate them, treat them, but wordsmith it so it’s like it didn’t happen.
