Came home for the first time after six months of marriage and this is how my parents welcomed me.

Both of them waited for almost an hour near the airport as Air India Express delayed flight without giving any information and then this is what I walked on when I came home.

Belted a full rasmalai, daal ki poori with kathal ki sabzi at 11:00 in night with zero regrets and slept like a baby till 8:00 in the morning.

Now that I look back it makes sense why my standards have always been high in love and why I can identify the bare minimums in a glance. Growing up in a family that believes in acts of service with zero glorification really helps you in having a clear sight of what you want in life and how you want to be treated. ❤️🧿

He skipped placements at IIT Madras for 2 consecutive days. On the third day, he took a flight back to Mangalore just to avoid being forced by his family to attend placements. His desire to build an aircraft company was so intense that it made him act irrationally in front of his family.

He then started building his aircraft company from Bengaluru. When he had barely Rs 20,000 in hand, he still hired an intern, promising a stipend of Rs 7,000. On one of the days when he could not make it back to his PG on time, he spent the night at the Majestic bus stand. All of this at the age of 23!

That is the story of @shreepoorna365, founder of Arctus Aerospace, a company building unmanned aerial vehicles that can fly up to 45,000 feet and capture imagery for a wide range of use cases.

Once, during a lecture by Niels Bohr, Satyendra Nath Bose was presiding over the session. At 1 point, Bohr got stuck while explaining a concept on the blackboard. He paused, turned towards Bose & asked, “Can Professor Bose help me?”

This is 8-year-old Tamizh Amudhan (born on 2nd of September 2017). He is sitting in his home in Sivakasi. The electricity was not there so he had to use a candle.

In the first round of Freestyle Friday, he was pitted against world no.7 Vincent Keymer (2759). Not only is Vincent an amazing player he is well known for his Freestyle Chess. It was absolutely stunning how Tamizh Amudhan outwitted him!

This youngster who trains at Hatsun Chess Academy near Sivakasi is already a CM and rated close to 2000 Elo. A huge congrats to the youngster and his grit! 😍

The economics here are wilder than most people realize.

India produces 24-26 million metric tons of mangoes per year. About 45% of the entire planet's supply. And they export... 32,000 metric tons. That's 0.13%.

Mexico produces a fraction of what India does and exports 10x more by dollar value. India's mango export revenue is ~$60 million. Mexico's is $575 million.

Why would the world's largest producer barely sell to the outside world?

Because 1.4 billion people who consider mango a staple fruit create a domestic market so large that the marginal return on exporting is almost zero. The internal price clears. The logistics of cold-chain shipping a tropical fruit halfway around the world can't compete with selling it fresh at the market down the street.

India has over 1,000 mango varieties. The ones most Indians eat (Langra, Dasheri, Chausa) are so fragile they'd never survive export. The only variety that ships well, Alphonso, represents a tiny fraction of total production.

The "less than 1% exported" stat sounds like a failure. It's actually a demand curve so steep that the rest of the world barely gets a taste.
