So how would this work exactly, Matt? Would these women also have a 2% conviction rate? Would district attorneys plea bargain 98% of false accusations down to community service and a slap on the wrist? Or would we be convicting these women at rates exponentially greater than the rates at which we convict actual rapists?

I’d also like to know what your criteria would be for determining that a rape accusation was false. Do you plan to convict every woman who makes a claim that can’t be substantiated? Because from here, this sounds like a good way to make sure that actual rape victims are too afraid to report real crimes to the police — and I’m sure that’s deliberate.

Sickened by the story coming out of Cornell. How does an entire fraternity get a text advertising a gang rape without a single one of them going to the police? How does a university decide to punish rapists by assigning them essays? Seven accused rapists — and one expulsion. The rest get a “that was very naughty, boys — don’t be so public about it next time.” And now all the shitty men on this app are falling all over themselves to excuse this atrocity and to blame it on the victim. It’s amazing how we tell robbery victims not to resist for safety’s sake, but the rape victim has to take a beating and risk her life to even be acknowledged as a victim. “No” is enough to keep my dog out of my dinner, even when I’m having steak. Why is it that roughly one in every three grown ass men is apparently incapable of equaling the self control regularly displayed by my seven year old Dachshund?

The judiciary system in Iran has confirmed 74 lashes for Parastoo Ahmadi for the “crime” of singing.

She sang without compulsory hijab. She hurt no one. She simply used her voice.

Now she faces 74 lashes, a two-year travel ban, and a two-year ban from audiovisual activities.

This should not be only an Iranian women’s issue. Every singer, every artist, every woman, every man who believes in basic human dignity should stand with Parastoo.

Say her name. Share her story. Use your platform. 74 lashes for singing should outrage all of us.

A trans-identifying female NICU nurse has been charged with felony child abuse, accused of brutally beating a four month old girl, leaving the baby with multiple fractures, broken bones, and bruising on her hands, arms, thigh, buttocks, abdomen, and tongue. The victim had been born four months premature, and was days away from discharge when Kieran Ansley, 43, attacked her.

When the victim’s mother asked Ansley why her daughter’s tongue was so blue as to be almost black, Ansley reportedly said that he’d seen it before, and that it was no big deal.

The victim is now ten months old, and has recovered completely. Ansley will be facing ten years behind bars if she is convicted, but in my opinion, anyone who beats up a baby should get life without parole at the very minimum — and spend it doing hard labor.

In Cambridge recently - there were four upper middle class educated grey haired white grandmas and one grey haired grandpa on a Saturday demonstration near the theatre. One of the non-jewish actors I work with who met quite a few of the survivors of October 7 at the recent Nova Exhibition went and asked the five Grey Grandparents what they thought about October 7 with the terrible rapes abductions murders & atrocitities carried out that day. The Gray Grandpa told the Actor that none of the atrocities really happened that it was all hearsay and speculation. One of the old middleclass Grey Grandmas said ‘actually I don’t care’

For the record having met many of the survivors, many of the rape survivors and many of the families who’s children were murdered at the Nova festival -I can categorically tell you that some of the worst atrocities I have ever heard of happened that day. Never allow anyone to deny what happened on October 7th. Please. It doesn’t matter what your political affiliation is but once you start denying rape and sexual violence to one group of people when there is empirical evidence- you will end up denying all. 🙌
