This Sunday just gone at Mass I had to apologise to an elder woman for my years away from the Church. Ever since I first began to seek reception into the Catholic Church, and ever after my Confirmation, this woman prayed for me. That is faith.

The Catholic faith is not about debate or argument. It isn't about winning the war of words online. It isn't about hot takes. It isn't about proof-texting. It isn't about owning the libs. It isn't about being 'templar-pilled'. It isn't about being based.

It is not about showing off like a pharisee praying loudly.

It is about being like the tax collector he so derides.

I do not particularly wish to post a sermon. As the prophet said, I am man of unclean lips and I dwell amongst a people of unclean lips. Further, I know that many of the accounts I see posting about crusades and templars and the like are run by men by age and younger.

To them I say this:

I once ran a YouTube channel for apologetics, documentaries, history, theology, and the like. I was too young, too arrogant. My intentions for good works were twisted. In a strange way my faith became its own idol. Beware that in your haste to speak you don't trip on your own wagging tongues.

Remember that in all things, we serve a God who is love and love is ultimately patient and never derisive. I am guilty of speaking harshly far too often myself. Do not commit the same sins I have.

May God have mercy on us all.

TL;DR If we truly need more black representation then it should be in the form of stories from African culture rather than white erasure.
