@CAKEMUSIC had it exactly right: Excess ain't rebellion

In the name of frugality due to inflation, we have been improvising more in the kitchen lately. My chili wasn't quite right this evening, but my husband and I tinkered around and made it into an amazing chili mac.

Get you a partner for all the ups and downs in life.

[Midwest vs. The Rest @midwestern_ope]

If you live in this region of the world you don’t measure distance in miles you measure it in the time it takes to get there

[Sky @Sky31174291]

@mary_pezzulo It's also all so artificial 😬

Overheard 11 asking his friend "May I tell you a tale?" before telling him about something he did in Minecraft 😄

Me: I didn't realize at first that the cherry tree we had were cherries for baking, not eating

My husband, who grew up in a more rural area: What?!

In my defense, I don't care for cherries fresh or in a pie, though I made a lot of cherry brownies because of that tree

@RVA__Moses @AmSolidarity I hate crowds so I get it, but it's like saying no one else should be at the mall in December... public spaces are just that, public 🤷‍♀️

You and I are not a number nor a cog in the machine. You and I are human beings who are unique and unrepeatable.

@PunkyMantilla I mean, maybe not even DoorDash- what if the driver doesn't meet their very narrow standards of Acceptable Humans?

One thing I’ve been doing that’s greatly elevated my happiness is being nostalgic for the present. Asking myself “in five years what am I going to miss about my life at this current moment?” We don’t have as much time as we think, and we must hold onto each other.

Kansas families are facing an uphill battle against hunger, with over 266,000 children potentially benefiting from $32 million in federal Summer EBT support. Yet, the #ksleg seeks to strip this lifeline. https://t.co/tYCbmwzvbc

[Holden Culotta @Holden_Culotta]

President Dwight Eisenhower: “Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.

This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron.” 🇺🇸

we should have national summer reading holidays where everyone takes a few weeks off work and absconds to the beach or lake or mysterious glowing portal of their choice and reads whatever they like
