I thought this was a great suggestion for my next drawing, so I gave it a try! I don't believe I have ever drawn an Alan Kulwicki car. Most people think of his Hooters car, maybe the Zerex cars, but I always liked the Quincy's cars!
I took about 2 hours today drawing this one.
Fun fact about a couple of the cars in the designs, they were actually hand drawn on paper. I did it sort of inverted, everything I wanted white was colored in black/green. I would scan them and do an image trace on them to get even more of a slightly imperfect look.
Based on the unused 1988 concept design from @sambassartist. This has to be one of my favorite unused designs, if it wasn't obvious. I built a model kit using the design, made a L-R Series concept drawing based on it, and now my @SkyFoxDesigns iRacing scheme.
The black, red, and silver border is actually on there. I couldn’t fit the whole image in my scanner, so I recreated it in photoshop. It took a while to get all of the black colored in. The silver is pinstripe tape. It looks pretty bad in the photo, but looks decent in person.
In honor of @sambassartist, I replicated his original concept art for Dale Earnhardt's Goodwrench paint scheme. I replaced the 3 car with it with its modern counterpart, @J_Allgaier's 2026 Carolina Carports @JRMotorsports #7 Chevrolet.
After having the poll, this was voted as the car I should draw next. I gave it a try and just finished it up.
Here's the hand drawn picture of @RyanJNewman's 2004 #12 Alltel @Team_Penske Dodge. It was drawn using pencil, prismacolor colored pencils, and sharpies.

Take a look at my… process… if you could call it that, of getting a rough sketch of a racecar drawn! This is the start, then all sorts of revisions and refining come along layer to try to get it as close as I can to the real deal!
I’m going to try my best to do a Timelapse of me drawing the @RyanJNewman Alltel 12 car. I have trouble doing Timelapse’s of hand drawn stuff because I’m in the way so much and move the paper so often.
Anyway, here’s a sneak peek of how I get the rough sketch drawn of the car.
I’m undecided on what car I want to draw to try to get some practice and learn a bit more. I’ll take a vote! Which one o these cars should I try to draw next?
For anyone who might be interested, I have this layered vector template for sale for $50.
It has lots of small details and shading layers to try to replicate the 2026 Chevy Cup car. I spent a while trying to make everything easy to find and easy to use.
DM me if interested!
For anyone who's interested, I've added some things to my Teespring store. I've got 2 designs of my dad's 59 car, one with my old C10 if anyone likes old trucks, and much more! I have everything priced as low as they'll let me!
Check them all out here: https://t.co/FzfSCp5p56
Dad always has one thing to say when he looks at these pictures. He jokes about all the sheet metal they bent up and took to the crusher/metal recycler through the years.
"We bought it by the sheet and sold it by the pound!"
