@AGD85_@KNBR@knbrmurph@MarkusBoucher He'll make an enormous amount of money off the court no matter where he plays. My point is that he makes so much that I don't think $12M means anything to him unless he's too proud to play for the minimum.
LeBron James is willing to accept a minimum contract to play for a contender, per @ShamsCharania
He doesn't intend to make a "financially-driven decision"
@KNBR@knbrmurph@MarkusBoucher Talking about the money, how much of an impact do we actually expect the $12M difference between the minimum and the mid level to make? He's a billionaire who is already committing to taking a huge pay cut. It feels like the roster quality and balance is a much bigger factor.
@_utilitysports I guess I'm a bit out of the loop. Is Markkanen and JJJ at the 4 and 5 not a viable path forward? Does Markkanen really make that much sense at the 3?
@JonKrawczynski@TheAthletic A surprise for sure. At this stage, I imagine winning a championship is the main motivation. Given the uncertainty around the Jaylen Brown situation I don't entirely think they have better championship odds than us right now but he certainly knows the game better than me.
@brittrobson It's a bit shocking how often in today's game we see 35+ year old players on max contracts who need to be catered to. Teams that are stuck in mediocrity are forced to kick the can further and further down the road until their franchise legend asks out
@alehelandro@Rage_Baiter69@ShamsCharania I'll be honest, my impression when I saw the original reply was that they were saying Beasley doesn't deserve this punishment because domestic abusers don't get this punishment. Looking back I can see that might not have been the case.
@alehelandro@Rage_Baiter69@ShamsCharania Is being lenient on throwing games going to solve the issue of domestic abuse? It's simple. If you gamble on games that you are playing in, you deserve a lifetime ban. Full stop. ENTIRELY SEPARATE from that, the NBA is soft on abusers and should fix that issue.
@pluqski@PistonsInFoe@jaredtyrelpls@Rage_Baiter69@ShamsCharania Many people believe that since the NBA has been less harsh on punishments to domestic abusers, it's unfair when they give severe punishments to players who commit other crimes. Doing this "what about" thing deflects from the severity of the crime of throwing games
@whyhelack@Rage_Baiter69@ShamsCharania Then let's simplify it. Considering the crime, and the crime only, is a lifetime ban an appropriate punishment for throwing games?
@whyhelack@Rage_Baiter69@ShamsCharania No it's not. Try telling your boss that you shouldn't be fired for stealing from your work because your coworker punched his wife.
