@alyssaleann A friend's baby sister when we were in HS (15 year age gap):
Warwick: Eric
Puckman: Pumpkin
Zanana: Lasagna (pretty sure that one's common)
Schmuckler: sprinkler
All of these entered our regular language as a friend group.
@HutyraSusan@EliMcCann I'm currently half way through gestating my twins (first time mom and apparently I went big) and my only thought is that really screwing up a small human is something you practically have to try to do. The sorts of abuse and neglect that do that The Fella and I are incapable of.
@lovedoveclarke I found out at 40 that apparently after 35 your ovaries start having a fire sale every month and throwing out multiple eggs so I wouldn't be shocked if the rest of it amps up as well... Fraternal twins are due next spring. Surprise!
@Sparkly_Jenny@dieworkwear Any time you're sewing pieces with off grain cuts it can get squirrelly. Get yourself a tailor's ham and embrace the art of pressing (not ironing) and it will help finesse your seams. (Also practice on cheap, non-slippery fabrics like old sheets and muslin.) Good luck!
@fairyartmother I was a runner and in the mid 80s when I was wee my mom designed and made a prototype she called the Toddle Safe. We still have it, and the rejection letter saying nobody would want to leash their children. Having been in both ends of the cable (nanny) I believe in these!
@kunwara_ladkaa @localloservamp I feel like I read somewhere that blood and egg are chemically interchangeable, in terms of culinary/baking applications, but definitely verify before you try to make Vampiric Banana Bread.
@Sustain_VA @harvestlifer @lingerie_addict With the caveat you get what you pay for. My $$ Friendsheep balls show no signs of wear, but the ones I got for $1 each at Aldi are already misshapen after a couple of months. Not sure what midrange brands durability looks like.
@JortsTheCat Jorts, let's say I have one of my cat friends on my lap and I urgently need to get up. Do you think they would prefer to be dislodged and left, or carried with me to my destination?
@laurenancona I have been saying for a while that there is a HUGE market for Covid safe pop up in-office spaces. Company A only needs employees in office once a month? Only *have* an office once a month, and it has the best ventilation etc.! Split the improvement costs between a dozen+ bizzes.
@NecessaryTaco@chinbeard Looks like one from LLBean. I still have my 3rd grade backpack from them and it's nearly perfect except I needed to replace the pulls on the zippers. I turn 40 next week.
@sensorystories_ I have always said "just because I carry it well doesn't mean it isn't heavy." (I describe my autism as wearing a backpack full of rocks. I can do many things but it's almost always harder than if I didn't have the bag!)
@willtube4food@dieworkwear You jest, but I once saw a 4 day flame war on the ethics of walking in cemeteries/graveyards in a walk/run group. I don't know what about the internet turns opinions into Opinions, but dang.
@EmbraceAutism__ The number of adults of autistic kids who self dx because they look at the DSM or parent survey or whatever used to dx their youngster and go "oh sh*t, that's me!" is definitely non-zero. It took 2 generations of dx for my parents to clue in though.
@MarionAppel5 @dieworkwear Just as you want to wear your designated shoes when hemming a gown, you want to do all fittings with the intended underpinnings. This is why things like historical costumes are drafted from the skin out, bc the wrong corset or petticoats can change your silhouette drastically.
@convoetsy@courtneyellis Sage/Avocado green 2 quart vacuum flask. Dented, and permanently imbued with coffee, but beloved on my dad's worksites for decades.
@_Daks_@JasonMB@MaintenancePod I feel like my mother would be glad to never hear me discuss how BMI was never intended to be applied at population level ever again...
