She cut the doctor’s body into pieces and threw them away.
Deepti Devasthali was an MBBS student who wanted to pursue modeling.
Along with her lawyer mother, Leena Devasthali, she kidnapped her distant relative, the doctor. She administered anesthesia to render him unconscious and demanded a ransom of ₹25 lakh so that she could use the money to pursue modeling. Later, the doctor’s body was cut into pieces and dumped at different locations.
In December 2007, the Pune Sessions Court convicted both of them of murder and kidnapping and sentenced them to death.
In 2009, the Bombay High Court acquitted them of the murder charge (because the complete body was not recovered, so the murder could not be proved beyond reasonable doubt). However, it convicted them of kidnapping for ransom (Section 364A), criminal conspiracy, cheating, and other offences, and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
Mother Leena Devasthali was released in 2025, and Deepti was released on 30 September.
Do you think victims will get justice in this country…?
They were acquitted of the murder charge because all the pieces of the deceased’s body were not found.
What kind of joke is this? The police had recovered the body parts — how was the murder not proved from them? Should the deceased have come back to life and testified that these mother and daughter had murdered him?
In an illicit relationship, the mother cut and killed her two twin children.
After her husband’s death, she was living at her parental home. She had four children — three sons and one daughter.
She was having physical relations with a man named Rajesh who lived in the neighbourhood.
Both twin children came to know about this and were going to inform their maternal grandfather about this illicit relationship.
Mother Preeti cut the sleeping children into pieces with a sharp weapon and hid them in a pile of straw.
Women are killing innocent children, husbands and family members because of the itch between their legs. Until the law gives them harsh punishment, the series of deaths of innocents will continue.
India is probably the only country where a govt babu, whose department was directly responsible for mixing of water and sewage that resulted in the death of 30 innocent citizens, not only will not be punished but actually promoted, but the CEO of a private company, who doesn't have direct control over a factory where 2 workers tragically died, will be arrested immediately and sent to trial
Vishwaraj Gohil jumped off a cliff after recording a 13 min video. We need to tell these young men that it doesn't matter to anyone. You die like this and your wife will fight for your life insurance and other benefits.
It's because of the cur cumin in turmeric which is in the curry powder. Its is a known anti-inflammatory and had cancer fighting properties. Indians already knew this thousands of years ago. That's why all our curries have turmeric.
Tribal people in Jharkhand have had enough. At a press conference held at the Ranchi Press Club by members of the Kendriya Sarna Samiti, they issued a strict warning to Christian missionaries celebrating indigenous tribal festivals like Karam inside churches. They categorically stated that the primary adversary of tribals in India are Christian missionaries.
Kendriya Sarna Samiti Representative): "We want to warn Christian missionaries: you have already converted; you have abandoned your indigenous customs, traditions, culture, and customary systems. If you forcibly attack or hurt our rituals and traditions, we will not tolerate it. And under any circumstances, if Karam is celebrated inside a church, you must be prepared to face the consequences.
We want to state in very clear terms—you have made a mockery of this. Your entire tradition and ritual system revolves around Fathers, Sisters, and Brothers. Our customs and traditions run on the systems of Pahan (traditional priest) and Panbhara. And yet you claim to be Adivasis?
You have made a joke out of Jharkhand! We will not tolerate this.
Now you have even started celebrating Sarhul, wearing our traditional attire, and dancing to the Mandar (traditional drum). What kind of spectacle have you created?"
Soma Oraon (Tribal Leader): "We are warning the Cardinal... We warn the Cardinal that whatever attempts you made to turn Jharkhand into a Christian republic are in the past. Soma is telling you: mend your ways now. For as long as you exploited us—trying to destroy our customs, worship practices, and heritage in every way—we will expose all your misdeeds.
From your biggest figures like former minister Bandhu Tirkey to church workers, we are exposing everyone, and through this press conference, we sound a clear warning.
If by mistake you plant the Karam branch inside the church, we will not protest on that exact day.
Let me make it clear: we are peaceful people. And since you are a Cardinal and this government favors you, whatever you ask of the Honorable Chief Minister, he will do.
But on the very next day, with musical instruments, liquor (handia) offerings, drums (dhol-nagara), sacred pots (kalsa), rice (chaur), and vermilion (sindoor), we will march to that church. We will enter. If you lock the gates, right there at the locked entrance we will sacrifice a rooster, offer handia, apply vermilion and sacred rice, sprinkle it all around the perimeter, and declare that church a Dhumkuria (traditional Oraon youth dormitory).
So consider this a warning: if you want to heed it, wake up. If you want to reform, reform now. Otherwise, go ahead and celebrate it in your prominent churches this time. If we do not sacrifice a rooster the next day and declare it a Dhumkuria, my name is not Soma Oraon!
Whatever you did to mislead the tribal and indigenous people in the past will no longer work. Your intention of turning Jharkhand into a Christian republic is finished.
That is why I state in many interviews that if tribal and indigenous communities have any primary adversary in Jharkhand, India, or the world, it is Christian missionaries. I don't just have one piece of evidence—I have thousands of documents to prove it.
So beware... My senior colleagues have covered everything. My core point is: stop instigating tribes, converting them, and trying to build a Christian state.
If you have become Christian, then follow Christian rituals and the Indian Christian Marriage Act of 1872. Nobody is stopping you. But will you take ST reservations, minority benefits, foreign reservations, and FCRA funding all for yourselves while we are left with nothing?
We are educated now, we understand everything, and we are studying all of this closely. So consider yourselves warned!"

Feed full of bangladeshi muslims getting angry with saudi arabia over execution of a couple.
Let this be a reminder, one year ago bangladeshis lynched, burned, murdered an innocent labour worker. He had a wife too..
Largely, Odias have started embracing everything from Dandiya over ଗୋସାଣୀ, Kanya Pujan over ଷୋଳ ପୂଜା and Modak over ଚୁଡ଼ାଘଷା, to Makhan-misri over ରାଶି କୋରା. Embracing is fine, but it is just as much a denigration 1/2
This guy from Odisha, India, who loved learning Sanskrit, has now created an engineering AI model better than OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra and every frontier model out there.
While the news is to be celebrated and his company congratulated, as Indians we need to feel disappointed that such extraordinary Indian innovators still have to come to the west to innovate.
The ecosystem (universities, accelerators, and funding) and the environment (livable towns, good infra) for such innovation and innovators, while has certainly developed, still needs to improve.
While I'm sure it will in the coming decade, for now, as I have long been calling for, India needs to build a GIFT city kind of dedicated town for tech and innovation in a place with good weather throughout the year.
And also create good incentives for these Indian origin founded companies in the west to immediately open centers in India, sharing back some of the tech they created.
Europeans are slowly learning what Hindus learned in the early 1990s: Muslims do not consider non-Muslims to be human beings; they think we are just part of the flora and fauna, that we are trespassers in their god's universe.
At her own graduation ceremony, a 20 year old girl walked up to the British Governor of Bengal and fired five shots at him.
Her name was Bina Das.
She was born in 1911 in Krishnanagar, Bengal, the youngest of five sisters.
On 6 February 1932, Calcutta University held its convocation. The chief guest was the Governor of Bengal, Stanley Jackson. Bina was one of the students receiving a degree that day.
When the Governor began his speech, she stood up and fired. Five shots. Not one hit him. She was caught on the spot.
In her confession, she wrote that she wanted to die fighting this system.
She got nine years of rigorous imprisonment. She was 20.
When she came out, she joined the Quit India movement in 1942 and went back to jail till 1945. After independence, she was elected to the Bengal assembly. In 1960, India gave her the Padma Shri.
After her husband died, she moved to Rishikesh and lived alone, in poverty.
On 26 December 1986, she died there. Most accounts say passersby found her body by the roadside, and it took the police about a month to find out who she was.
In 2012, Calcutta University gave her the degree the British had held back. She had been dead for 26 years.
