@ChristoRixman@ggreenwald Last I checked, Liz Cheney knew 9-11 was a terrorist attack that should be condemned and Piker does not. That’s all that needs to be said. It is idiotic that Dems don’t completely disavow that America hater.
@Timodc Stop trying to sweep Pikers extremism under the rug. We should have denounced “defund the police” clearly and loudly before it cost seats in 2020, but we didn’t. Now Dems are making the same mistake.
@PetAdvocacy That happens in places with MANY puppy stores. That happened in NY for decades BEFORE the pet store law passed. You guys should try and be accurate rather than just spitting out bad talking points. You are hurting your credibility.
In case you're just learning that half of the Colorado River's water goes to grow animal feed like alfalfa (it's not just alfalfa) and want to learn more, I have two explainers on it (one short, one long). Threaded >>
Will you stand with wild horses?
A recent @nytimes investigation has brought crucial, national attention to a devastating reality countless organizations have been working to expose for years: federally protected wild horses are being sold into the slaughter pipeline.
But our mustangs are not alone. They are joined in those kill pens by former show jumpers, discarded lesson ponies, ex-Thoroughbreds, and donkeys. Horses who carried children, worked with veterans, or were our partners in sport - discarded to meet a tragic end.
No equine is safe in the United States of America until we pass the SAFE Act.
The Wild Beauty Foundation is leading a national campaign to change this. Please, spend two minutes of your time to visit https://t.co/piEAEBNBAN and send a message to Congress in moments by simply inputting your zip code.
If you want to take a step further, make the call the U.S. Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121
Ask to be connected with your two senators and representative, then say something to this effect, with professionalism and passion:
“I am a constituent asking you to support and pass the SAFE Act, H.R. 1661 and S. 775, and ensure that language banning the transport of American horses to slaughter remains in the final transportation bill. Please act now to end horse slaughter once and for all.”
We are at a tipping point… can’t you feel it?

As thousands of wild horses and burros face roundups across the West, scrutiny is growing over what happens to animals sold out of federal custody.
“The BLM has failed in its responsibility to ensure that the nation’s wild horses and burros go to reputable homes and has instead set the stage for their betrayal and deaths,” says @humaneworldkb.
@humaneworldorg is warning that failures in the federal system have allowed some once-protected animals to enter the slaughter pipeline and that proposed budget changes could further weaken longstanding safeguards if Congress does not restore them.

@Newsweek
Year after year, we have lobbied and litigated to end the horse slaughter trade, and year after year, we have made sure that congressional appropriations language is in place to prevent the BLM from selling horses in a manner that leads to their slaughter. It is impossible to make horse slaughter humane.
It’s up to all of us to ensure that the administration hears our calls to action—it’s up to all of us to ensure that Congress makes this the last time America’s wild horses undergo the immense terror of suffering of transport and slaughter.
