So proud that @MPI_NL has been awarded a grant by Max Planck Society to set up TALENT+ scheme - to train early career researchers from *all* under-represented groups. Creating a whole system of new appointment and support procedures tailored to need. More details coming soon.
My little PhD side project on hesitation markers ("uh" and "um") in Dutch-speaking autistic and non-autistic preschoolers is now awaiting peer review and preprinted here: https://t.co/mV3Bt6KUYF. So fun to nerd out on Linguistics again!
This delay is problematic for many psycholinguistic studies. Nevertheless, I think there are some really useful applications of webcam-based eyetracking, like piloting materials or testing questions that are not dependent on very fine-grained (temporal) data. (5/5)
New paper out in BRM! In this paper, @RHartsuiker and I tested the efficacy of webcam-based eyetracking (using WebGazer and @pc_ibex) for the visual worlds paradigm.https://t.co/a0nAQ3zXHL (1/5)
This delay can be caused by multiple factors, like hardware/software variation, the web-based setting, or the execution speed of the WebGazer algorithm. Most likely though, the delay is caused by an interaction of all these factors. (4/5)
Job posting: our section, Theoretical & Applied Linguistics at @Cambridge_Uni, is hiring a Lab Manager https://t.co/Tc6jpVc8yO (Deadline: 22 June 2022) - Duties: manage linguistics labs + train researchers/students in EEG, audio and video recording

Easychair is now open for submissions to ELM 2: https://t.co/H7KkxOW5Zg (Deadline: 12/15)
Also note slight change in conference dates to May 18-20, 2022 (rather than 19-21)
@pc_ibex@qzhever@GorillaPsyc That's correct! In PCIbex, you seem to be able to record eye-tracking data and video at the same time using the EyeTracker and MediaRecorder elements. Feel free to DM me if you have questions! (although I am still testing/figuring out this technique myself).
We'll be giving an online PCIbex Tutorial at the Arizona Linguistics Circle 15, on Oct 15 from 4:45-6:45 Arizona time (7:45-9:45pm EDT). Spread the word to anyone you think should get started on PCIbex!
Conference time again!
Check out my short talk on subject-verb agreement following quantified phrases later today (18:30-19:30 Paris time) and my short talk on web-based visual world experimentation on Saturday (14:15 - 15:15) #amlap2021
Excited to give a 5-min talk at
@CUNY2021 parallel session today at 12:30 EST (18:30 GMT+1)! It will be about my research together with Anna Jessen on L2 speakers' visual recognition of inflected words. Check the abstract here: https://t.co/35XXFhUy5O
Today at #CUNY2021 @linguistbrian and @fernandaedi announced the soft opening of Glossa Psycholinguistics. GP is an open access journal that considers brief reports, longer reports, registered reports, and theoretical reviews. Please retweet and follow us here on Twitter!
Very excited (and somewhat nervous) for my #CUNY2021 talk tomorrow!
Do you want to learn about the nature of the mental representations of quantificational scope? Come see my talk tomorrow in Session 1 :)
