There’s some Twitter buzz about the pending shutdown of Alex Drummond’s Ibex farm. A few comments on https://t.co/y6aZnlnbj0 for those who haven’t heard of it, both in general and on how it relates to Ibex. Please share for the benefit of anyone worried about Ibex’s demise.
@DrLearnasaurus Don't suspect this was an issue here, but I'll mention it as a PSA for people reading this thread anyway: one very common source of errors with group assignments is CSV-files that have extra rows with just commas (due to Excel commonly introducing extra rows when saving to CSV)
@DrLearnasaurus Note that for test-driving particular groups, and/or to have independent full control over what group the experiment runs in on a given click, you can fix the group as part of the link, as documented here: https://t.co/whqIdTjPsy
@DrLearnasaurus ... automatically be used to subset the stimuli, rotating through groups A-D based on the state of the counter (that by default gets increased when results are sent, but you can do it earlier (and should if you get lots of people to participate simultaneously).
@anna_pryslopska Hmm. We're a little short on time and resources at the moment, so others' input will be more than welcome! What mobile OS and browser are you trying this on? And how are you controlling formatting? If you share your demolink with [email protected], we can try to take a look...
We originally named this article "online sentence processing online", but had to unpack the title eventually. Check it out: https://t.co/obbZKPZnUi
PS it's a collaboration between some of us at @lab_polar and Gerry Altmann
Do you PCIbex? At @lingstitute2023, we certainly do! “Experimenting with meaning - a hands on introduction to using PCIbex” https://t.co/NMXCHmPUXb Florian Schwarz https://t.co/L9E6c6xCmE

Seems like a great resource! And PCIbex'ers, remember you can just include your project's demo link in publications and elsewhere to allow one-click replication for others for #OpenScience purposes!
Do you want to do a psychology experiment while following best practices in open science? My collaborators and I have created Experimentology, a new open web textbook (to be published by MIT Press but free online forever).

Some highlights! 🧵
New paper out in BRM! In this paper, @RHartsuiker and I tested the efficacy of webcam-based eyetracking (using WebGazer and @pc_ibex) for the visual worlds paradigm.https://t.co/a0nAQ3zXHL (1/5)
After recent slowdowns due to lots of back-logged processes leading to performance disruptions at https://t.co/b0RzJUfWeO, we're scheduling a service maintenance for this Sunday, so data collection should be paused. Expect to be back in business on Monday.
Cool paper using online audio recording feature of PCIbex, showing viability of online data collection for linguistic production studies!

Q (March 2020): Will our speech production studies work online?
A (soon after): Heck yeah!
Kudos to Maggie Kandel on the first paper from this adventure, in @glossapsycholx. Cool effects of agreement attraction in speech timing.

@JoyMillsLing PCIbex indeed can do all that (playback and record audio) and more (all free). See resources below. Forum is also active.
