3 ways you can potentially relocate to Europe with about ₦5 million in 2026 ...

Not all travel routes require you to have ₦20 million, ₦30 million, or ₦50 million readily available in your bank account. However, it's important to understand that having ₦5 million by itself is not enough to qualify you for any visa. Your eligibility still depends on factors such as your qualifications, job, income, experience, and other specific requirements.

1. 🇩🇪 Germany: Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte)

Individuals possessing a recognized qualification or fulfilling the requisite points criteria are eligible to apply for entry into Germany for the purpose of seeking qualified employment. A prior job offer is not necessarily required for the application process.

However, you must prove that you can support yourself while looking for work. In 2026, Germany requires proof of at least €1,091 per month, normally through a blocked account or another accepted method.

2. 🇫🇷 France: Seasonal Worker Visa

France offers a legal pathway for seasonal workers who have secured eligible employment. The employer plays a crucial role in this process, as work authorization must be obtained before applying for a visa.

For individuals currently employed remotely by a foreign company or operating as qualifying remote professionals, Italy offers a digital nomad/remote worker pathway. Eligibility requires meeting specific criteria for highly qualified remote workers, including demonstrating the necessary income, possessing health insurance, and securing suitable accommodation.

So, if you have about ₦5 million and you want to Japa in 2026, don't just ask:

“Which country can I enter with ₦5m?”

Ask:

“Which legal route matches my profile?”

Because Germany may suit a QUALIFIED jobseeker.

France may suit someone who can secure eligible seasonal employment.

Italy may suit someone already earning remotely.

Prioritize the travel route, and then consider the financial aspects.
Furthermore, avoid giving your ₦5 million to individuals who assure you of a "guaranteed European visa." There's no such thing as a magical ₦5 million visa.

Burkina Faso under Captain Ibrahim Traoré is making real progress on food sovereignty.

National cereal production reached **7.14 million tons** in the 2025–2026 season up **17.6%** from the previous year and **37%** above the five-year average.

This exceeds national consumption needs by about **26%**, according to data referenced by the World Bank (citing the World Food Programme).

The World Bank credits the strong agricultural growth (agriculture expanded 11.6% in 2025) in large part to the government’s **Offensive Agricole** launched in 2023 under Traoré ,providing irrigation, fertilizers, improved seeds, land clearing, and plowing support.

During my postgraduate days at UNILAG, there was this guy who would always drive to lectures in his 2004 Toyota Corolla. He worked with FAAN.

Whenever exams were approaching, he would always want to borrow my notes and make photocopies because he liked the way I structured it. I had a way of highlighting important points and adding side notes, some of which would later turn out to be likely exam questions.

We had this particular course he had been battling with. At that point, his mindset was simply to write the exam, pass somehow, and probably end up with an E.

So I picked him up. We would have WhatsApp voice calls while going through the course materials together. We did it consistently, and we both ended up with an A.

He would usually tell me that if I ever needed anything, I shouldn't hesitate to let him know and that he would come through for me. Most times, I ignored the offer because I was also doing fine on my own.

About two years after our master's programme, I had a cousin who had graduated for years but was still struggling to secure employment. He had twice gotten a fully funded scholarship in the US and was denied visa twice. He also tried Australia and was denied three times.

He eventually gave Belgium a shot, got admission, and was required to present a blocked account, meaning he needed to show proof of a certain amount of money in a Belgian account. The amount was approaching €13,000.

He had nothing, and his resumption deadline was fast approaching.

He reached out to me. Even though he had never told me about his plans to travel, I decided to do everything I could.

I reached out to two of my friends in the UK, but they couldn't help because they were still trying to establish themselves t ground. I also contacted someone in the US who was on a fully funded scholarship. He told me his monthly stipend wasn't even up to $2,000 and that, after paying rent, he had less than $300 left.

Then something told me to reach out to my old master's classmate from UNILAG.

I narrated the situation to him. He asked me straight up, "How much do you need?"

I told him we needed €14,000 in a Belgian account.

He asked, "Will that be enough?"

The next day, he provided €14,000.

A few weeks later, my cousin's visa was approved. While he was heading to the airport, my same friet also gave him ₦2 million in cash, this time, a gift.

Today, my cousin has emmigrated to the US, happily married to an American woman who is also a scholar like him. They now have two children.

I have also become his go-to person for almost every thing he needs done in Nigeria. When he bought his first home in Maryland, Mende, Lagos, I was the one who went for the inspection, received the funds in my account for a Duplex, and handled the closing deal for him.

There is hardly anything I need today that my cousin wouldn't go the extra mile to do for me.

Life has a funny way of bringing people back into your life.

Sometimes, the person you think you are helping today may become the person who changes your life tomorrow.

Never underestimate the value of being genuinely useful to people.

Be useful. Be kind. Build genuine relationships. You never know when life will bring the same person back to you in a different season.

I had no idea how much my life was about to change.

I was just 22 years old. A month after my sign-out, and honestly, I couldn’t even boast of ₦5k to my name. I couldn’t do a proper sign-out because I didn’t even have money to buy a vest. 😭

I remember that period very well. It was tough. There were days I genuinely wondered when things would finally start making sense.

Then in September 2023, I started learning Shopify. I had no idea where it would take me. I was just trying to find something I could do.

Fast forward 3 years…

A house in my name. 🥹
A car in my name. 💪

Sometimes I look back and I’m just grateful I didn’t give up on myself during those days.

Life can humble you badly, but please, just keep going. You honestly have no idea what the next few years can bring.

This reminds me of my best subject back in high school: Economics. One factor of underdevelopment we discussed was high population growth without enough economic opportunities.

No jobs, no opportunities, too much idle time… before you know it, population is growing faster than the economy (you go sha enjoy something). 😂
