The only two ways into a commercial cockpit are:

1⃣ Paying $100k - $200k out of pocket for civilian flight hours (FAA mandates 1,500 flight hours). This cost naturally filters out the majority of the population and favors candidates with existing generational wealth.

2⃣ Have the taxpayer fund it via the military. For decades, military pilots have been majority white and male. Those pilots eventually retire and walk directly into commercial airline jobs.

Decades of a historically white-male military pipeline and a massive wealth barrier do not equal a pure meritocracy.

The solution is automation and "upskilling". Modern factories don't need 1970s assembly workers. They need technicians who can program robots. Slapping tariffs on imports just kills consumer demand by driving up prices, which ends up canceling factory expansions entirely and those promised jobs evaporate.

Pretending we are going to have a fleet of commercial nuclear cargo ships by 2028 is hilarious. The NS Savannah proved 60 years ago this doesn't work commercially.... despite advancements made since then, a commercial nuclear vessel requires a military-grade security detail to prevent piracy. Also, finding a private insurer to underwrite a floating nuclear reactor or a foreign port willing to let it dock is a challenge.

fyi, Apple Maps changed the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. I don't know when, but that's the way it shows up for me now.

I'm not sure if this is just in the U.S. or worldwide (I would guess just the U.S.). I think it's only a matter of time before Apple changes Lake Ontario to Lake America for devices in the U.S.
