@swiming_bird@CityGroverBeach TOT goes to the general fund. GB doesnโt have a fund specifically for affordable housing but helped the Cleaver Commons project get 10M in grants. Way more than they could have ever given them in traditional funds.
After some bellyaching from the chair, the bill receives 6 AYE votes and moves on to Assembly Appropriations! bombastic side-eye to the "trickle-down housing" commenters
Our rep Addis: supports #SB35, raised two kids in the coastal zone. But wants more time to adjust the amendments, doesnโt want โgiveaways to developers.โ Deeply disappointing comments from a rep who lives in Morro Bay ๐ฃ
@Scott_Wiener SLO County relies on the hospitality industry for so much of our economy. Maids, bartenders, tour guides, and receptionists should be able to live in @CityofPismo, @CityOfMorroBay, @CityGroverBeach, Avila and Oceano!
Attention SLOcals! ๐ข do you think mandating huge parking lots in the coastal zone is dumb af?? Do you think hospitality employees should be able to walk to work? Then tell @addis4cc that you support #SB423 โ๐ฝโโ๐พ and tell @TheCACoast to suck it!
#SB423 from @Scott_Wiener extends a law that has enabled 11,000 new homes in just a few years, most of them being low-income! Only it currently doesnโt apply in the coastal zone ๐ญ which is supremely dumb. SB423 fixes that!
Excellent example of the negative impacts of the housing shortage on local communities.
Employees deserve to live close to their jobs. When we say no to housing, we make it harder to keep community resources, local jobs, and new neighbors.

Took a โJane Jacobs Walkโ with the new @CalPoly Urbanists group and @CityBeautifulYT to talk about ๐ on the street, safe sidewalks, and illegal housing. What a great start to the weekend!
โI donโt like the idea of the building going all the way up to the lot lineโ says the guy who has been on the Commission longer than any staffer has been employed in this department
