The stats speak for themselves. 87% of vehicles speed. More than half speed so fast they would get a ticket at a minimum. This is with a big light up sign that tells them they are speeding! We need action. @sgloscouncil@ClareMoody4PCC@chriswillmore will you help?
#FV225
Since the road was repainted / signs put up we are still having the usual near misses, poorly judged overtakes and racing through the village. Now FV225 has been taken off the @sgloscouncil investigation/implementation list entirely! @ClaireforTAY@chriswillmore can you help?
Westerleigh doesn't have any dual carriageways, though you could be fooled here. BMW driver decides to overtake several cars at almost double the speed limit. Is action coming before more hospital visits and police call outs? @chriswillmore@ASPRoadSafety@sgloscouncil
The crashes keep coming because of the excessive speeds on the roads in and out of Westerleigh. Another clear up and repair operation required. Again thankful no one was seriously hurt. How is that survey to calm our roads down looking @chriswillmore@ClaireforTAY@sgloscouncil
Sign and lampost destroyed. Apparently the car was trashed and left by the Wat Not. Police have since removed the vehicle. @ClaireforTAY another one to add to the long list of accidents in the village.
ANOTHER crash and our village green trashed, nearly destroying the war memorial (and themselves). Eye witnesses say they came so fast down Shorthill Road they were unable to turn taking the lamppost with them. A miracle no one was hurt. @chriswillmore@ASPRoadSafety Support FV225
Another crash, this time on the way out of the village. Just another example of the 3 roads leading in and out of Westerleigh needing to be calmed. @sgloscouncil@chriswillmore@ClaireforTAY any news on the review that was supposed to happen in Oct?
@chriswillmore@sgloscouncil@ClaireforTAY Coming out the village couple hundred meters past the school on that turn with Nibley Lane. See there were some temporary traffic lights put up there a little while back but they didn't last.
Is wearing high-vis while driving dangerously through a village supposed to help warn the children in the park, pedestrians on the bus stop and cyclists? Is it for the villagers benefit? Could just be a bell*nd in a mini. Act on #FV225 before more accidents! @chriswillmore
This driver of a blue VW R400SGH apparently entitled to use Shorthill Road as their own private racetrack in the middle of the day. No care for the school, playpark, bus stop, residents trying to park or cross the road. Support #FV225@sgloscouncil@ASPolice@chriswillmore
How are residents supposed to pull out of driveways safely when it's not uncommon to find someone speeding on the wrong side of the road? Support #FV225 to calm this road down! @chriswillmore@ClaireforTAY@sgloscouncil@ASPolice
@chriswillmore@sgloscouncil@NationalHways@ClareMoody4PCC@ClaireforTAY So probably a mix of additional signage (there is an argument people should know the speed limit because of the presence of regular street lighting, but the reality is that's not the lived experience) and speed cushions as a physical reminder and prevention measure.
Another collision on shorthill road involving police, paramedics and a trip to hospital. How can there not be enough evidence now to drive change? Support #FV225 to calm this road down. Its 30mph for a reason.
@sgloscouncil@NationalHways@ClareMoody4PCC@chriswillmore#FV225
@chriswillmore@sgloscouncil@NationalHways@ClareMoody4PCC@ClaireforTAY Noting its still a main vehicle route so can't be too obstructive, likely speed cushions to maintain vehicle flow but stop anyone gathering excessive speed. A similar set up to easter compton as they have similar geography and issues (steep hill from 40mph into village).
6 months later, and things are a little worse. OVER 87% of vehicles speed. More than half speed so fast they would get a ticket at a minimum. More accidents in the village this year so far. We need action!
@sgloscouncil@NationalHways@ClareMoody4PCC@chriswillmore#FV225
Another accident, this time at the top of Shorthill Road. We need to slow these roads in and out of the village down so @ASPolice can focus on better things. Support #FV225 to calm this down. @sgloscouncil@chriswillmore
