RCP: Bill Maher endorses Graham Platner for US Senate in Maine
Maher on Platner: “I would still urge the folks in Maine to vote for him, for two reasons.”
“One, we need to restore balance in our government, and a Democratic Senate would help a lot with that.”
“And two, get used to it, America is a country filled with a lot of broken, horribly educated, phone addicted, sort of nutty people, and as long as we live in a representative democracy, we are always electing our reflection in the mirror.”

@DougHenwood I always enjoy reading Henwood's posts but why on earth would the mindless algorithm put this "cannot connect to Facebook" post with my notifications? Perhaps Doug is right and it is civilization collapse.
People have also been making the facile comparison for a long time, since before Brexit and Nigel Farage and much else to which the supposed decline is attributed.
A generation ago, Giuliani and then Bloomberg set a template for city governance and urban revival that spread through the US and around the globe, lasting for decades. We may be seeing the arrival of a new paradigm—America's biggest cities turning left. https://t.co/koxnhKf8ws
Food stall in Redlands offering frozen custard, a rare treat in the IE, closed last week. I went in for one last cup. Also: a few thoughts on the local election results, including a comeback in Pomona and an Uplander who got 260,000 votes. (gift link) https://t.co/QikDcKrJ5f

Anti-Israel agitators. Climate activists. Communist groups.
Experts warn a growing activist network united by anti-American sentiment — and in some cases China-linked funding networks — is now targeting America’s AI infrastructure and industrial power.
Fox News Digital found many of the same movements protesting side-by-side across the country, including groups opposing new AI data centers over energy and environmental concerns.
“What all of these protests have in common ... is that anti-American trend within them,” Hudson Institute fellow Zineb Riboua told Fox News Digital.
I brought my baby home from the shelter the other day. Meet Peanut.. She was sitting quietly in her kennel when I first saw her—tiny, wide-eyed, and trying to be brave. When the volunteer placed her in my arms, she tucked her little head under my chin like she had finally found somewhere safe to rest. That was it. I was hers. The ride home was soft purrs and curious glances out of the carrier. By the time we walked through the front door, she stepped out like she already owned the place.
At least 70 percent of the energy produced by burning gasoline is wasted by cars in the form of heat. Across the entire fossil fuel system, about two thirds of the energy produced is simply wasted.
HUGE: J Street now backs blocking all aid to Israel, including for “defensive” weapons like iron dome.
Just weeks ago this was a controversial position for Democrats, now J Street is backing it. A few years ago a Democrat could get censured for holding this position. @AOC moving on this moved the field.
