What the Makerfield by election result should show people is the limitations of right-wing populism.
It only wins when absolutely NOBODY else offers even a crumb of hope or anything remotely intelligent.
I'm aware that significant numbers of people, in some cases whole groups of people, who see themselves as radical nationalists flung themselves into Restore Britain even though it is completely reactionary purely because they perceived it as immediately viable.
Makerfield must be a lesson for that, and I address those people:
Even if it appears as though the short-term prospects are better, the long-term prospects for such reactionary machines are terrible.
