Here I am on Bluesky, will still be on Twitter but in the likely event that piece of shit Muskrat destroys this app & shoves Adolf Trump down our throat I’m moving over here.
Onto Ep3, Primeval’s first marine animal, the Mosasaur, Terror of the Thames. @MrFragilis had fun with this one, keeping some of its distinctive features on a more accurate base.
(Anatomy based on Mosasaurus hoffmannii, was tempted to do Tylo-Rex but AFAIK hoffmannii is bigger)
Primeval Ep2 finished with everyone’s favourite giant Millipede Arthropleura (A. armata by @MrFragilis) the kind of bug that would stick to the kitchen at parties.
(Not much to keep from the base design cause it’s a Kaiju Scolopendra, very much Arthropleura in name only)
@TheEricGoldman If you’re reviving an old show that either ended or got cancelled, it has to be a standalone season with a clear beginning middle & end, a good jumping on point for new viewers.

@RickRaptor105@SouthApe Better example also in S4A, reusing the Deinonychus model in EP1 & depicting it alongside Spinosaurus, like yeah there probably was a Dromaeosaur that lived alongside Spinosaurus.
@RickRaptor105 I guess if the Jurassic franchise decides to include Cenozoic fauna in the movies, then Phorusrhacids will make a comeback in paleo-media.
Just please, no more of that being outcompeted by mammals/playing second fiddle to Smilodon crap.
@RickRaptor105@MrFragilis@TheHodgeOfPodge I can’t remember, I think they were always just referred as “Spiders” or “Arachnids” in the fact files.
Stephen’s Scorpion line was probably a nod to Megarachne getting reclassified as a Eurypterid/Sea Scorpion.
Onto Primeval Ep2, we have Protosulpuga carbonaria once again reconstructed by @MrFragilis infesting the London Underground.
(While I’m 99.9% sure the design in the show is meant to be Megarachne, I subscribe to what @TheHodgeOfPodge suggested in TGPS’s vid, it’s a Solifugid)
Rounding out the first episode of Primeval, we have Scutosaurus karpinskii, brilliant done by @MrFragilis it’s not a Dinosaur & it won’t win Connor Temple the Nobel Prize.
(Definitely the design that needed the biggest overhaul, from the weird Turtle Elephant design)
@RickRaptor105@Titanlizard_Art True, but i think it’s also a case of the design at its core is just bad & ugly, same with the Spinosaurus & the Tree Creeper, they just look dumb cartoony & lack any verisimilitude.
@Titanlizard_Art Getting rid of the stupid Mythosaur tusks & giving it the actual horns Kaprosuchus had helps, but god damn it still looks insanely ugly & cartoonified.
