The real idea was to create one place where English makers and producers could sell directly to the public.

No fighting for attention. No being drowned out by the big names.

Building the full vision from day one would have taken a much bigger team and budget. So we started smaller, focusing on food, drink and gifts.

The ambition hasn’t changed, though.

We want to help outstanding English producers sell more, here and overseas. Not just the famous names, but the smaller makers creating exceptional things most people have never come across.

In time, overseas fulfilment centres coule be opened. Or we could grow Made in England into the wider marketplace it was always meant to be.

Either way, the goal is the same: to build a serious route from England’s makers to customers around the world.

When an English producer grows, the impact spreads far beyond that one business. It keeps people in work, supports suppliers and helps preserve specialist skills. It gives the next generation a reason to stay and learn a craft. It keeps productive land in use, and choosing food made here over imports can cut unnecessary food miles.

As we grow, Made in England will remain a business built here, creating value here and paying its fair share here.

But first, the idea has to prove itself. Likes and shares help people discover us. But they don’t build a business.
