Hello Fly Friends - Yesterday many of you got an email from GSA asking you to express your interest in volunteering to serve on the Fly Board or award committees, and to present your work at or organize the Fly Meeting. Both faculty & trainees are invited to fill out the survey.
Our department is recruiting a Tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in Neuroinflammation, broadly defined. Excellent colleagues, supporting environment and low cost of living. Apply by 10/31. Please share! https://t.co/e3fob8Lk0s
This is a terrible hiring policy. I’ve served on K99 study sections, and there were fantastic scientists with stunning work who didn’t received the K99 because they didn’t need more training or otherwise didn’t thread the needle as required for this mechanism.
I am puzzled by the proposal to limit K99 application eligibility to the first two years. Has the NRSA/F32 been discontinued? Applicants will now have to choose between two tracks - F32 vs K99? How can this not increase disparity between “F32” and “K99” labs and institutions?
➡️ Shorten the eligibility window and refocus review criteria for a key mentored career development award (K99/R00) to facilitate more rapid transition of postdoctoral scholars.
We're seeking talented postdocs from diverse backgrounds to present their research and engage with our community as part of the Rising Stars in Cell and Developmental Biology Symposium in early Fall 2024.
DEADLINE EXTENDED TO JUNE 15!
