Flood concerns! Points along the Meramec River are expected to crest between Sunday and Wednesday of next week. In particular, I'm concerned about the major flooding in Eureka and Valley Park. Highway 141 near I-44 has been known to flood when river levels reach those levels.
Yesterday's storm system triggered 728 Severe & Tornado Warnings, the highest single-day count since the historic April 2011 outbreak.
The data shows we just experienced the third most active severe weather day in nearly four decades.
13 tornadoes have been confirmed just in our coverage area from Friday March 14th. 2 EF3 tornadoes were south including Des Arc, MO. 6 EF2 tornadoes and 5 EF1 tornadoes
For those wondering why we evacuated during tornado coverage Friday night, here's the now confirmed tornado path & our location. We tell you to play it safe rather than sorry, we do that too. #FirstAlert4
In this clip, I was able to call out a tornado 6 minutes before it had even formed. This is a top-down radar analysis of a mesocyclone handoff that would lead to the Villa Ridge-Gray Summit, MO tornado on Friday. Thankfully, the area was in a warning already from a prior cycle!
Another crew confirmed tornado damage from Chesterfield northeast through Maryland Heights, Bridgton, Florissant, and others. Damage was rated as high as EF-2, and this survey is also NOT complete and may change as the remainder of the damage is surveyed. (2/2) #STLwx#MOwx
How many tornadoes touched down in our area Friday? My initial analysis shows at least 4 tornado tracks, but there are likely more as some of these twisters probably lifted and touched down again.
Check out these four images for general locations.

Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe has signed an executive order declaring a state of emergency ahead of forecasted severe weather that will hit most of the state. https://t.co/WF7Rwty3zG
Quick update *TORCON NOW 9* for Saturday. Please be aware of the risk and the timing for your area and have plans to be in a safe shelter. A mobile home is NOT a safe shelter. Please make plans ahead of time to be in a sturdier building.
‼️ A potential life-threatening storm system will move into the region tonight. Strong tornadoes (EF2+) are becoming an increasing concern with this system. ‼️
The time to prepare is now. Have multiple ways to receive severe weather alerts and follow @NWSStLouis. #STLwx
UPDATE From #FirstAlert4...
Our severe storm threat for Friday evening has increased from level 3 to level 4 (out of 5).
This doesn't change the forecast. It simply increases our confidence in the potential for destructive winds & tornadoes from 7PM-2AM Friday night.
