I make it a point to tell them they are awesome.
We need more* professors who were "bad" at school.
People who struggled. People who tried to learn 6 different explanations before the aha. People who don't have perfect memories. People who take time to process things. People who got Ds.
Survivorship bias promotes exclusion.
If there was a way to transfer student debt this generation's Jesus Christ is one who will accept all loans and die in bankruptcy for all our tuition sins
@itsmetheHBIC I don't know how Houston women doll up and get as fine as they do bc when I was in Houston I was a greasy, oily, sweaty mess with flat hair and swamp ass.
I have seen patients extubate themselves with persistent tongue action, pulling head away from vent tubing, WITH THEIR FEET and so many others .
tbh I respect the persistence and grind.

@MileHighBecky In retrospect the post was very un-nuanced, mostly directed at ppl who dont try to overcome communication barriers and just blame patient.
If pt has delusions, specifying them is more helpful than "poor historian" but yes genuine barriers do occur.
@nursekelsey I have memories of being a 5 yo being very anxious over hugging, including my parents. It never felt safe and comforting until my 30s. I am so touched and grateful that your kiddo does not have this experience and has such trust in you. ๐ฅฐ
