Free, open-source desktop app for the Snapmaker U1 🖨️ Explore, prepare, slice (Snapmaker Orca), print, design with AI. Independent project, not by Snapmaker.
Hello, world! 👋 Snap Studio is a free, open-source desktop workshop for the Snapmaker U1: find a model, prepare the plate, slice with the Snapmaker Orca engine, print and watch it on camera.

@CMYKForge Thanks! A bad last tool change can ruin hours of multicolor printing, so waiting felt right. Full-color from a handful of filaments is exactly the kind of job the U1 was made for. Would love to see your CMYKForge prints once 2.4.1 lands in Snap Studio 🎨
Snap Studio is moving to the Snapmaker Orca 2.4.1 engine 🛠️
Material-aware purge tower, Orca-aligned adhesion, new 2.4.1 settings: almost ready.
On hold until Snapmaker fixes a nozzle-lift issue at the final tool change. Your prints come first.

More colors than heads on your Snapmaker U1? 🌈
Snap Studio mixes two loaded spools into a new color with one slider, from 4:1 to 1:4. The new virtual head (up to 8) shows up in Prepare like a real one. Free and open source.

@SirWill@VoxelPla@BIQU_Makers That purple looks great! If you like watching prints, Snap Studio (free, open-source desktop app for the U1) shows your printer in 3D with its spools and heads, plus the camera feed and your timelapses. Happy to hear what you'd want on that screen.
@ThisOld3DP@I3onkersTv Agreed, open vs import is the crux. In Snap Studio (free open-source desktop app for the U1), a MakerWorld/Bambu 3MF lands on the U1 plate and you send each color to a head, matched against the spools actually loaded. Curious if that fits how you work.
@MandicReally@snapmaker Enjoy the U1! The toolhead swaps never get old. If you end up juggling MakerWorld models and color-to-head mapping, we're building Snap Studio, a free open-source desktop app for the U1 (Snapmaker Orca engine, camera, printer in 3D). Feedback from a maker like you would be gold.
@I3onkersTv@KaossExer@snapmaker If you end up slicing on your MacBook: we're building Snap Studio, a free open-source U1 desktop app that runs the Snapmaker Orca engine and shows the printer camera in one window. Would love feedback from someone who flips between Orca and Snorca: https://t.co/PUzD1AnhiL
@vaizaragorn@escutarian Same frustration here. Snap Studio (free, open source U1 app) shows the printer camera next to your sliced plate so you can follow the job from your desk. Not a nozzle cam, but it helps!
@UncleJessy4Real@nomadsculpt@snapmaker Great mask! If you ever want to try a U1-only workflow (find model → prep → slice → watch the print on camera), Snap Studio is free and open source. Happy to help if you give it a spin.
@neotko@snapmaker@real_OrcaSlicer@microbians Vector Brush → real relief is wild 🔥 We're working on an open-source U1 desktop app built on the Snapmaker Orca engine (Snap Studio). Always happy to compare notes with fellow U1 fork devs.
@ServingNChrist Love this workflow! In case it helps: Snap Studio (free, open source) lets you design with Claude, map colors to the U1's 4 heads and slice with the Snapmaker Orca engine, all in one app. Curious what you'd think.
And it's release day 🎃 Snap Studio 0.18 is out for Halloween:
• Drop STL/3MF models into an AI chat for Claude to edit or build on
• Built-in title bar on Windows & Linux
• No more freezes on long file operations
