@s8mb Presumably a secondary intention is to make public sector jobs more competitive with the private sector to grow a more skilled/productive workforce? Wages are now much lower in the public sector and pensions are less competitive than they were (as now tied to the lower wages).

@d20play Another reason to use eg. Kobold Press, Level Up or MCDM creatures. I get that some groups want the fights to be quick & easy (/seem heroic) and wotc needs to cater for that. As many groups want fights to challenge them more and we have publishers for that 🙏🏻.

I can’t believe Disney has cancelled The Acolyte after one series. This was some of the most promising SW viewing since early Mandalorian & Andor. It’s also just fuckin cruel to the fanbase to dangle so many threads & characters in front of us.

Critical Role and a lot of anime ARE fantasy. The genre has expanded a lot since the 1970s. I'd say the D&D players who are big into logistics, and erroneous ideas of historicity and realism are the ones who may be less into fantasy and better served by historical fiction.
