VIDEO: ⚠️ Employees at a Circle K store in Phoenix called police about a white guy causing problems. When police arrived, the white guy accused an innocent Black guy across the street of causing the problem. Police then ran off and violently arrested the Black guy, Tyron McAlpin.
What happened next is disgusting, disgraceful, and criminal. Tyron McAlpin is deaf and could not hear or understand the police commands, but the officers brutally attacked him anyway.
My younger brother is deaf, and this story makes me angry and fearful. I worry about my brother’s safety when he interacts with police.
I’ve been saying for years that the whole “law enforcement” model of policing (aggressively ordering commands and demanding immediate compliance in non-threatening situations) is broken and needs to be replaced with a public safety-focused approach to protect our communities.
But Trump wants to bring back stop and frisk policies and give police immunity from prosecution. It’s time to stop this madness.
Dr K: "Most of the suicidal men that I work with - their mind isn't malfunctioning - they genuinely have a life that is no longer worth living"
damn :/
I have no words to describe how I am feeling right now. I am in utter shock. Thank you all so much for changing my life. This wouldn't be possible without all of you. Thank you. I am truly honored.
Late last night during my vacation, I was made aware of the situation that happened on the Kick livestreaming platform.
I'm so fucking disappointed in what I've seen.
Why am I seeing an owner of Kick laughing at what's happening here?
Why has no authoritative action been taken regarding this situation? It's been like 12 hours already...
I feel like a fucking idiot right now.
I put my heart & soul onto moving my community to this platform because I believed & pushed for change in the streaming world but I can't turn a blind eye to this. The acceptability from the owner at the highest level shows me there really is no limits as to what people can get away with here.
Not saying other platforms are perfect because we know full well they're not, but at some point you really have to draw the line to what you can accept as a human being. The fact that there is no TOS to stop this behaviour & to see it funded and supported by management is sickening to me.
I do not usually involve myself in platform politics, I try & push forward to where I see opportunity & find fit for my community. I saw an incredible opportunity with this platform, particularly moving as a part-time streamer that I thought I could grow & thrive with. I've always believed in 'blocking out the noise' & making my own decisions based on my own thoughts.
But to wake up today & see no kind of statement (not that it even makes a difference at this point), to see Ice STILL live on the platform & STILL promoted on the front page tells me everything I need to know.
I won't judge people for continuing to stream on the platform, but please be vocal in what you've seen from this. This kind of action should not be allowed to let slide. We have to do better as an industry.
I will be moving back to Twitch for the foreseeable future. This is not what I had planned for my goals & future at all, but i also can't just sit by & accept this as okay. I hope the lady involved in the situation is okay.
This is the first platform I've trusted outside of Twitch to try & move my livestreaming career to. It's been a year of a LOT of change & unfortunately, here we are again. I hope you understand my reasons.
Sorry if I let you down.
after mass shootings u hear shit like “we need more cops” or “there’s too much violence in media” when all that needs to be said is “this country refuses to deal with white supremacy” and until it does, people will keep dying.
