@piersmorgan It is now basically taken as a given in right wing circles that the whole idea of war crimes was an invention of woke liberals to keep Real Men™️ from winning.
@amoryxblaine@AKviking77 Sure, we could do that. Not sure we would like the blowback effects that would have on us in terms of the global economy, but we could do it.
@Cajun_Proud1976 Usually, the President doesn't control gas prices. But when the President starts a war of choice in the Middle East that results in 33% of global oil exports getting shut down, the President sure as shit has affected gas prices.
@IYKbaseball If Don Jr. asked the oligarch first, ffs why? What were the terms of the loan? Was this a handshake deal or was it in writing? So many questions!
@IYKbaseball Also, if he could pay him back, why did he need the oligarch to pay for it in the first place? Was Don, Jr. just short on cash and in need of a short term loan? Did Don Jr. try to get a loan anywhere else first? If so, why didn't Don Jr. get the loan from the people he asked 1st?
@JimBagaDonuts Iran wasn't on the verge of getting a nuke. Trump said after Midnight Hammer that Iran's nuclear program was "obliterated." Bibi just talked Trump into assassinating the Ayatollah, as he had tried to convince every POTUS since W to do. Trump got overconfident.
@JimBagaDonuts Gas was that expensive under Biden because Putin invaded Ukraine just as the world economy was going gangbusters rebounding from Covid and oil producers will still ramping up supply after the Covid crash. Production had rebounded to pre-pandemic levels by the end of Biden's term.
I can't help but enjoy watching Republicans reap the whirlwind of affordability politics. I know its pure schadenfreude; I just can't stop. Trump would not be President again if not for swing voters being angry over inflation. Not our fault he was too dumb to act accordingly.
@HankDesmondPhD E.g., even if Iran was actually on the precipice of having a nuke (which it wasn't), we could have done Operation Midnight Hammer, Part Deux instead of assassinating Khomeini. Iran didn't shut down the Strait over that the 1st time, so they prob wouldn't have the 2nd time either.
@HankDesmondPhD Even setting aside the unproven assumption that attacking Iran *in the way we did* was necessary to US national security (whoosh, that was a heavy lift), past experience would suggest that you are, in fact, crazy for thinking that.
@ryangrim In any event, Bessent's whole thesis rests on the idea you would SPEND the money, which would also leave you unable to pay the IRS come tax day, and (at best) ending up in a payment plan under which you would pay even more interest.
@ryangrim Seriously please no one do this. Even if you invest the money (which almost no one would) you probably can't earn enough to cover the underpayment penalty (7%).
@adammocklerr I mean, yeah. This was pretty obvious. He's one of the most cartoonishly corrupt politicians of the past fifty years. He has only survived because of the absurdly broken, highly-polarized nature of GOP politics in Texas.
@BisphamGreen If you exchange money for something you find to be of equal value, you are not losing money. If you don't eat the banana, you still have to eat something else, which might end up costing you more than the banana. And you might like bananas.
