Man says society is wrong for not limiting women's roles and influence in response to discussion about Catholic female altar servers. How am I still surprised
@godandchocolate@rightscholar A little secret I learned: when it's always your fault because you belong to a certain category that's how you know you're encountering discrimination
@bluewmist A thought: or they can predict the authority figure's response or have partly internalized that response so both what they could decide and what they want to decide both become non-options because any choice equals a betrayal of values
@ChristisKingWV @ASobocki@rightscholar@davidgmac9 In my career I can aspire toward any role; in the church I cannot. That discrepancy is disorienting and needs addressed. Is society wrong for not limiting my roles and influence?
@FrPBehm@FrMatthewLC I've been to a non fssp priest, standard Dominican, who told me in the confessional it was good the confessional line was long for my particular sin. I'm going to default to not doubting a victim's report. Doubting reports of abuse does harm
@SNeurotypicals That I was doing something wrong. I was just wrong and missing something that other people had. In short: it was my fault and only I could "fix it".
@wnderlustingem Not me wearing an accessible jean jacket because it doesn't touch my armpits and still itching to take it off when I get out of public. Deciding to go home early because my outfit was a mistake because the sleeves aren't loose enough
@libby4000 I had the same experience on Aug 21 at age 38. A month later and I'm still not sure what I think and feel even though I pursued the assessment
