@SocialActionNg To achieve autonomy, 2/3 state houses of assemblies must vote for it. Unfortunately, these Assemblies are under the strict control of state governments. In the past, they have voted against autonomy for LGAs.
The task now is how to get the State Houses of Assembly to vote yes
@SocialActionNg Citizens must mobilize and be ready to engage their state legislators whenever the vote comes up again.
Constituents must ensure that their representative vote yes for LGA autonomy. This will come through mass organizing and pressuring and action to assert citizens' voice
@SocialActionNg The reasons for this weakness and failure of local governance in Nigeria can be summarized under fiscal and political heading. Fiscally, this represents how they access funds; and politically this shows how independent they are to function #LGAautonomy
