Dear @andyburnham.
These fantastic young people have been sentenced as terrorists just for trying to uphold international law and prevent deaths in Gaza.
Please tell us what you'll do to restore our shattered faith in British justice if you become PM?
Here I thought Morgan McSweeney and Labour To Win took an iron-grip on MP selections to fill the PLP with the best quality candidates raring to impress with their skill and charisma. So why is the Party having to reach into the cobwebbed cupboard of Blairites to fill key roles?
Toynbee has been writing the same article over and over again since the 19 f*cking 70s.
Essentially it boils down to:
“Vote for this Establishment Endorsed Sensible Centrist and this time things will definitely get better…”
The same article, thousands of times, for 50 years!
⬇️⬇️ This is an excellent summary of the Starmer-Burnham situation. Not one of 400 - FOUR HUNDRED!! - Labour MPs stepped up to replace Starmer. This is a party desperate to preserve the right-wing, pro-capitalist status quo.
There is a lot to be said about Andy Burnham.
And there are plenty of people already leaping to defend him, usually by attacking anyone who dares point out the obvious.
Here’s the thing...
Burnham has not been parachuted in to be handed the highest office in the land to save the people or rescue the country.
He has been brought in because the Labour Party machine has shifted up a gear in an attempt to save itself.
They are hoping the public will look more kindly on a different face, as if Starmer alone caused Labour’s collapse in support.
He didn’t...
Starmer was the face of bad policy, poor government, donor politics, managed slogans and contempt for the people. Changing the face will not change the direction.
And that is the real insult.
Labour has over 400 MPs. A supermajority. A whole parliamentary party supposedly ready to govern. Yet when the machine needed a replacement, it had to ship in a substitute from the old Blairite days.
Not one of them had the ability, authority or confidence to take up the challenge.
That is not renewal.
That's panic...
As for Burnham, for those of us that have no longer tied our self to Labour’s mast,
you don’t have to dig very deep to find the real Andy Burnham.
He is not some insurgent socialist waiting in the wings. He is a dyed-in-the-wool Blairite, a career politician forged in the New Labour machine.
Before Parliament, he worked as a researcher and special adviser. In government, he served under Blair and Brown. As an MP, he backed the Iraq War in 2003.
As Health Secretary, he inherited and defended a system already riddled with New Labour’s love affair with marketisation, targets, outsourcing and PFI-style thinking. That is the political soil he grew out of.
So let’s stop pretending Burnham represents a clean break from Starmerism.
He's not the antidote. He's the earlier variant.
A smoother voice, a better regional accent, a bit more warmth on camera, but still the same basic politics: manage decline, praise “partnership” with the private sector, keep the donor class calm, and call it change.
If Labour replaces Starmer with Burnham and expects the country to mistake it for renewal, they are insulting people’s intelligence.
New boss. Old machine...
#AndyBurnham
Keir Starmer has done more to damage the struggle against actual antisemitism, & all racism, by weaponising it for factional gain. He expelled more Jewish Labour members for antisemitism than all previous leaders of the party combined. That’s like expelling people of colour to ‘combat racism’
Congratulations to Andy Burnham.
But this isn’t a team of advisers which looks like challenging wealth and power.
The race for Greater Manchester mayor starts today and it’s Greens v Reform.
In 1999, Jack Straw assured parliament his Terrorism Act was reserved for serious premeditated violence creating "a climate of extreme fear".
The only "extreme fear" caused by Palestine Action is to Elbit's profit sheet and to Starmer, who may yet land in the dock at the Hague.
Wow. This case keeps getting worse.
They tried to get Claire Kerrison prosecuted for *religiously/racially aggravated harassment* of her MP and staff members for sending emails about the genocide in Gaza!
This was a serious charge that could have meant a jury trial in the Crown Court.
It carries a maximum sentence of 2 years in prison.
Peter Kyle MP's caseworker, Domino Moore, reported the emails as grossly offensive and 'anti-semitic'.
This led to Claire being charged with:
- Sending an indecent or grossly offensive message
AND
- Racially/religiously aggravated harassment, alarm or distress (Crime and Disorder Act 1998).
The aggravated charge was later withdrawn. Prosecutors likely realised it would be hard to prove 'hostility based on race/religion'— for emails criticising 'israel's' genocide in Gaza, sent to an MP known for strong pro-'israel' views.
This is how they use race/religion hate laws to silence anti-genocide and anti-'israel' British nationals.
Really glad the entire case was eventually dismissed. I hope Claire sues them all.

Cripes. Perhaps the jury in this case saw Mr Justice Johnson whacking the Filton 4 with terrorism sentences despite their jury not convicting them of terrorist offences. And the jury in this case thought “We’re not having any of that!”
It is going to be very, very funny if - after totally losing the plot about a jury having the right to refuse to convict - Johnson is the cause of loads of other juries refusing to convict.
Whatever the result, we badly need a party that is willing to redistribute wealth and power.
A party that will nationalise our public services, tax the super rich and call a genocide exactly what it is.
And that's the Green Party.

The Greater Manchester Mayoral election is on!
@ZackPolanski will be there to launch our campaign on Saturday. I can't wait to get out there and rally behind our wonderful candidate!
It's a straight fight between Greens and Reform!
Come on! let's turn Greater Manchester Green!
This is why the Labour government wants to do away with juries - juries tend to avoid convicting citizens acting on conscience against those who arm genocide
Zack Polanski has been cleared over the payment of council tax.
All the people who attacked him should apologise.
Of course, all politicians should be scrutinised.
But @ZackPolanski is being smeared because he threatens an order rigged in favour of the rich.
