OUR HERO OF THE DAY:
This is Washington Post Editor At Large Robert Kagan. He resigned from the newspaper today in protest over the paper's decision to holdout on endorsing Kamala Harris.
Join us in wishing him well in his next career move.
Just a reminder: Trump didn’t have a bad night. This is just who he is, and has been all along, visible to anyone who looked past the sanewashing.
Probably this is also who Harris has been all along, but now she has broken through the negative narratives that have clung to her.
I have lived long enough to see a former U.S. president make a dick joke about another former U.S. president and it is a worthy, subtle and gracefully delivered dick joke. If after I am departed from this vale, anyone claims I died unhappy they are lying.
This is fascinating. I never would have found this cogent analysis of what AI is actually doing---shortening not summarizing---on my own. Thank you Nate.
There's growing evidence (this time, from researchers) that AI doesn't understand what it is creating. https://t.co/NRm3UrUt1s (Like I have said before, it's really just guessing at what it is supposed to be creating.)
@courtneymilan Pele's beauty, strength and affectionate soul have warmed our hearts. Your devotion and exceptional care for him have been inspirational for throughout the years. I am deeply sorry at the news.
In 2023, we witnessed a record-high of mass shootings in America.
That's classmates, neighbors and loved ones stolen from their families. Communities changed forever.
In 2024, we must do better to stem this loss.
We must pass a nationwide ban on assault weapons.
@FrancesStockton Awfully sorry to hear that. I’d have thought having had Covid just a few months ago would have helped protect you. Here’s hoping it’s mild and over swiftly.
@FrancesStockton@julainestone I know how concerned you all must be. It's a tough trade-off for an older parent when they have to put up with care when they'd much prefer to be seeing to themselves. I hope her PT providers can restore her strength and balance.
@FrancesStockton@julainestone Whoa. That's a lot of challenges for anyone, but at 90, your mom has had a lot to come back from. I'm glad the care and assistance is there for her as she works her way back.
