@bigbropatchwork@devoriahub@IndieGameJoe Hey man that’s a huge blessing so thank you so much! The person this post is about told me my game wouldn’t be received well so they denied it. All good though no grudges just grinding. Thank you and I’ll sub to you!
@Aereotalpa314@NorseStudioDev I also spent a couple years taking Java classes at the library to refresh my skills. It was weird being the only 30 year old with kids half my age 🤣 but it was cool what they and the teacher taught me!
@Aereotalpa314@NorseStudioDev Built entirely on my own engine based on Java I took Java for 4 years as an elective and then used those skills to do nothing but code RuneScape private servers and said wait I could do something with this lol!
OH MY GOD THIS GAME LOOKS AMAZING WTH ARE YOU DOING WHY HAVE YOU NOT WISHLISTED AS A FELLOW 2D SPRITE IN A 3D WORLD GAME DEV THIS IS JUST OMG
WISHLIST

I use to to hyper fixate on wishlists and now I just want my game known I stopped checking. I didn't create my game for wealth, I created it to bring joy and fun to the genre. Seeing people happy and loving my product means more than anything to me. Wise words.
DO NOT PAY ANYONE #IndieDev 's or #GameDev 's this much money for coverage do you know how much $2228 could do for you on a targeted ad as opposed to this?!?!?! WTF.
@ndiegamesf43l Sending Demons back to hell is fun solo, but Imagine doing it with up to 3 friends. Co-op demo comes out right before Nextfest!

If I approach channel offering to pay that’s fine.
If you approach me wanting to make content around my project that’s fine.
If you approach me and say you want to cover my project but I have to pay, you’re caca.
Unless I offer why am I paying for your channels content.
I’m a little on the fence about this whole conversation I’ve seen on X around marketers charging developers for coverage/content.
If I’m honest, some of the commentary has made me a little uneasy. Not because I necessarily agree with charging for posting, but because it’s started to feel like a bit of a pile-on.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with making money from marketing games.
Plenty of people here on X and other social channels post about games because they love supporting developers, while also building a reputation, portfolio or consultancy business around it. There’s still a commercial benefit there and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.
So indirectly, they are making money, just not via the social posting of games - that’s just helping them build a profile for their consultancy or broader marketing business.
I post games I find interesting, I’ve done two showcases now and they actually cost me thousands. I was personally out of pocket and didn’t charge developers a cent.
Do I regret it? Nope. Not even slightly. I fucking love doing this.
My only thoughts on all this are, if you genuinely know how to market a product ie a game, I’d much rather see that kind of money go toward something longer-term and tangible for the developer.
Help them build the strategy. Position the game. Find the audience. Work out the messaging. Build a launch plan. Teach them what to do when your post is gone from everyone’s feed 24 hours later.
Because to me, that’s where the real value of a marketer should be. Devs, do your research. Work out what’s important to you and where you’re at with your game.
If you’re a #Youtuber or #twitch#kick or any other type of live streamer and you approach a game dev and say you love and want to cover their game but then turn around with a pricing plan or cost you’re a butt like 10/10 butt face.

I want to say this:
I have never, will never, could never charge for coverage.
I share games because I love them. I share games because they are GOOD. I share games because I support indie devs.
Anyone who is asking you for money for basic shares on social media or the most low-effort type of coverage does not deserve your attention. They're not trying to help you, they're trying to rob you.
Please do not give your money to people who don't care about you and your work. There are plenty of us who want to help for free.
@PokeIndie Thanks for the nice comment! To clarify for transparency we used ai to assist in 8 directional sprites off our reference drawing. Projecting 2D in a 3D world in all directions is insanely difficult to draw and reference especially for my gfx team!
The demo for No Murders in Grimwick is coming to itch tomorrow! 🎃
Until then, you can Wishlist it on Steam! 🫶
