Proto Telugu and Buddhism stretched to 3000 BC..
This is the state of Indian historical interaction.
Ironically Nagarjuna konda Inscription has "Damila" word attested, both Tamil's linguistic and ethnic antiquity can be established by our telugu garu brothers 😂😂
The original word is Koodal (கூடல்) which literally means assembly hence the name “Koodal” or “Koodal Ur” specifically for Madurai.
The word Sangam is from 7th century A.D. onwards. The terminology was adopted by western scholars to identify old Tamil literatures. This is the exact problem with identifying Tamulic/Tamilic languages as Dravidian where clearly the former term is much older than the latter. Only because of western adaptation Both Sangam & Dravidian became widely used. It is better to remain silent when you don’t have any knowledge of Tamil or it’s history!!!
@N89001869Kannan No it is not the same. Ram is an incarnation of God, that is God taking the form of humans. Which is the exact opposite of what Valluvar says. Hope you understand.
Tamils can only do it because only Tamil Culture has such philosophies and traditions.
“வையத்துள் வாழ்வாங்கு வாழ்பவன் வான்உறையும்
தெய்வத்துள் வைக்கப் படும்”
It is very bizarre, in spite of living in Tamil land for over 3 millennia still being unaware of this !!!
All the comparative model enthusiasts should understand that comparative model is a flawed methodology. The modern approaches like Phylogentic/computational also has the same problems. Johann Matis List has explained in detail in his paper, open problems in computational historical linguistics.
1. The foundational problem is the dataset itself. Many words are wrongly attributed as borrowings in Madras university Tamil lexicon. D.E.D is more like comparative lexicon and not a true etymological dictionary. This leads to wrong direction of borrowing and potentially leads to distorted outcome.
2. Many PIE roots are attested as origin unknown. These can be traced back to other language family.
3. No strong model to adjust for contact between different groups.
The classic example is the wrong attestation of Tamil’s sangam age to 300bc-300ad (we know exactly why this limit was applied ). Because of this the actual direction of borrowing of certain words are not attested correctly.
Coming to the datasets the proper etymological derivations of the words are not strong and for Tamil’s case it is catastrophically bad. It is right time for more scholars from Tamil Nadu to start working on these datasets.
I remember discussing this particular word - ஈனு (īṉu)- which means to give birth. Possibly being borrowed into Indo European.
*PIE root - *genh.
This ஈனு (īṉu) —-> genh/gene.
Sanskrit —> Jan
Greek —-> γεννώ (gennó)
Avestan —-> Zan
The semantic depth is very strong in Tamil , But this is conveniently labelled as parallel development and not borrowing where as for Ginger
Tamil —> இஞ்சி (inji) வேர் (vēr)
Greek —-> ζιγγίβερις (zingíberis)
Latin —-> zingiberi
Sanskrit ——> śṛṅgavera
This is accepted as borrowing. The ஈ to *Ge and இ to *Zi can be seen clearly.
Everything cycles back to the stupidly attested value of (300b.c -300a.d) when studied thoroughly, the actual information inside the poetries clearly tells, it being way older than these dates to support this the epigraphical study also reveals the same.
@Autonomous78916 Yea exactly how it is developing now for Tamil script , from no earlier to common era —> no earlier than Ashoka brahmi —-> no earlier to 6th century bce (Keeladi) .Pretty much sums up right ??
Classic example of Retardism. He is asking to show a paper in which a hypothetical reconstructed language is called Tamil. Now we will ask him show me a single paper in Dravidian linguistics without using Tamil as the foundation. Explain why Tamil is the closest and the one which retains the most archaic feature of your favourite “proto dravidian” language.
@SR1_aryan@SattanPazhiyili 😭😭😭 can’t refute on merit expect clinging to “Proto Dravidian” even the proto dravidian by itself means “ Proto - Tamil”. Everyone one knows the evolution of the very word Dravidian.
Yes so what ?? All the Nigandu’s - says it doesn’t means Brahmins ( much earlier than Parimelazhagar’s time ) Repeatedly overlaps with elders. If he went on basis of Parimelazhagar , being a scholar he should have verified the meanings in Nikandu, which was already available during U.V’s time particularly in 1894 when this was published or atleast rectified it in subsequent editions. There are more such deliberate distortions , including the story of Aadhi & Pakavan.
Man I love this Outburst. I wonder what will be their emotions in next 15-20 years particularly with the findings in archaeology and linguistics.
For this retard to understand -
Proto Dravdian is an hypothetical reconstruct. Even by that metrics Tamil is the closest, and oldest attested.
Keep sulking , the oldest Veda - Rig Veda itself has plenty of Tamil words and core cultural elements. Now piss off !!!
Why you guys always kang to this flawed comparative model. No languages would branch out like tree. These are just imaginary reconstruction.
If rig Veda is so old why does it have so many Tamil words and cultural elements ??
The Payiram clearly states the reason for creating Tholkappiyam. To substantiate that out of all literatures including Sanskrit , only Tamil Has the direct reference to show Vedas was in written form.
More things will come out. The information preserved in Tamil literatures after all these distortions by itself is a divine act !!
This is fantastic.
Fits perfectly for the debate whether Tamizh >>> God. When the Lord himself made a mistake in poetry, we questioned and accused him.
