So sorry to hear of the passing of HRH the Duke of Edinburgh. I recall seeing him visiting Winnipeg in 2002 at the Golden Boy dedication, how this raised our spirits as a part of a long life of public service. Rest in Peace. Our thoughts are with the Queen and the Royal Family.

@NickMartin14 40 years ago I studied rural sociology. Amalgamation of school divisions was a measure of how schools and other public institutions were being pushed to serve wider and wider populations, become less responsive to local needs. This move is the extreme in loss of local autonomy.
