@Artisium@pr0gam3rdude France has, historically, been very successful with its defense projects by Dassault, Naval and co. Because of that a certain arrogance and unwillingness to compromise can be observed as well as cultural differences in general. It is well documented in literature
@ResidentOfSound@pr0gam3rdude Cooperation with partners from other countries: Yes any communication is in both the respective language and English.
French Partners most of the time: It's in French, you either have a French speaking employee or provide a certified translator. Wtf is English?
@ResidentOfSound@pr0gam3rdude It's also funny how they are all butthurt and list successful projects. At a previous job we wanted to work with a French company because the engineering and cost were objectively better but the contractual stuff and communication were so tedious we went with a different one.
@spenglerandreas Studentenwerk, Wartezeit kann zwar etwas lang sein aber man rutscht meistens nach oben wenn Anreise weg mehr als 2h. Wohnungen/WGs kosten 350-450€/mon warm. Außer man studiert privat, dann geht's nicht
@GeorgeRoush It's also the pencil pushers. The bureaucracy has always been there but back when it was all analog, it was easier to hide the cool stuff and/or shuffle money around accordingly. I've experienced the discussions myself

What I've found in the past hour procrastinating from thesis writing.
I'm happy to help, I spend a lot of time using various cad programs and have more than my 2 cents to add on common annoyances.
@aymericrabot It looks really neat for quickly creating a model from drawings. Definitely useful for planning a remodel or when moving flat/house. But I've found some bugs/UX issues that make it really frustrating to use.
@aymericrabot Wall thickness direction (inward, outward, centerline) would be nice to have, missing option to place dimensions or have an option to show lengths of all walls (could be as simple as just having the length shown in the wall centre)
@aymericrabot ctrl+z doesn't remove elements created when moving walls a 2nd or 3rd revert is needed, maybe move the current top right editor elements to the top action bar and replace them with a CAD style rotation indicator and actions.
@glukianoff They could have added a single line to explain the hyperspace missile. "Those fucking idiots, the empire abandoned hyperspace tracking because it makes you vulnerable"
@lndexium Anything from Marry Roach, Inventing Accuracy, Not much of an engineer, More than my share of it all, sidewinder, skunk works, eccentric orbits, Ignition
Ground testing normally permits better data gathering of individual components, think post inspection of parts, high speed footage, etc. But this way they get better data on the system level. Good luck simulating vibrations, temp changes, vacuum and zero-g in the same setup.
I realized that full scale testing might be a lot cheaper (maybe even an order of magnitude) than building a dozen different test stands at that scale. Every design goes through revisions but here we just see them before being discarded behind closed doors.
Example: The pez dispenser. They could have built some elaborate gravity offload system and tested it on the ground. Instead they saved all that money and just threw it on the next flight
