Battery life is a solved problem with Framework 13 Pro running on Intel Panther Lake and Omarchy.
I took the laptop on my second trip and here are the numbers:
• I charged it before leaving home.
• I used it for 1.5 hours at the airport.
• Then, used it for about 5 hours during the flight.
• Then, used it for about 1 hour the next morning.
I plugged the laptop with 36%.
My usage was mostly browsing the web and social media, about 1 hour of Claude Code and Visual Studio Code, and I had a docker container running a database all the time.
Honestly, this is more battery life than what I need.
I can leave my house early on without carrying a charger and know I'll be back in the afternoon with enough juice.
It is time for the United States Postal Service to ban junk mail.
Unsolicited spam calls are already prohibited by the FCC. Emails are heavily regulated by the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003. Junk mail is the majority of mail, 100 million trees per year. Enough!
The Framework 13 Pro keyboard is better than both my MacBook Pro 16 and my MacBook Air keyboards.
I honestly don't want to go back.
MacBook keyboards are amazing, but the 13 Pro keyboard has more travel, and that makes it feel much nicer when typing.
The difference is not earth-shattering, but you will definitely notice it.
MacBook keyboard → short travel, softer
Framework 13 Pro keyboard → more travel, crisper
Besides the feeling when typing, I have the 3-colored keyboard (black, gray, and orange), and it's a delight to look at. I wish more manufacturers started to make less boring keyboards.
The Framework 13 Pro I'm using is running the Intel Core Ultra 5 325, and I'm yet to hear the fans.
I haven't done anything super crazy with it yet, but I've played videos, ran a Docker container with a large project, and have done normal things I do everyday, and nothing yet.
I'll keep trying, but so far, the laptop is 100% silent, hasn't gotten hot, and I'm yet to hear the fans.
I'm looking forward to my Ultra X9 388H. I imagine that one will be even harder to bother.
The trackpad of the Framework 13 Pro is one of its highlights.
I'm running Omarchy, and there was something that wasn't working quite well for me (coming from a Mac) with the trackpad.
I finally realized, I couldn't select text (click and drag with the trackpad).
3 lines of configuration later, and the problem is now gone.
This is one of the best trackpads I've tried. I can't really find any differences with my Mac trackpad.
the framework 13 pro is the macbook pro of linux
>haptic touchpad
>great touchscreen
>insane battery life
>full aluminum chassis
>comfortable keyboard
framework sent me a pre-production unit and i'm genuinely blown away by this machine
i've been daily driving a framework machine for over a year and the 13 pro feels 10x more premium
to me the biggest win is battery life: i can confidently say this machine easily lasts me the entire day (and this is with capping my charging to 80% for battery health). i'm someone who always carries a battery bank on me but with this machine battery truly isn't a concern
i can do my work for hours on end and still have hours of battery life to spare. i can go work at a coffee shop and not have to worry about being near an outlet. while it sounds small this gives me immense peace of mind which is what i try to optimize for in my life
and like any framework i can still repair/upgrade any part of this machine
if you're looking for a new machine i highly recommend checking out the new framework 13 pro
Framework Laptop 13 Pro is selling far above our forecast, and we've sold out of the first six batches already. Also nice validation of our approach, the Ubuntu configurations are outselling the Windows ones!
