@Tim652610089256@Clav0Updates Exploring the arts (be it through creating, analyzing, or even just appreciating them) is a good one. Any hobby you can continuously improve in is also good because it makes it so you always have something to do. Most involve a bit of tedium at the start but its worth it overall.
@Ethrelite@Clav0Updates I do feel sorry for him but it's more complicated than that; the issue is he's really not a great influence on his audience (most of which are young people going through the same issues), not that he has money.
@StevenWallaby People might be upset about this take but to general audiences 90% of horror movies are complete dogshit, so whenever something even halfway decent comes out in the genre people explode over it. Obsession is far from perfect but it's pretty good and has universal appeal.
@BayesianNuance@aidannonx What commonly happens with cheaters is some feeling of doubt in the relationship is instilled but they're too scared to leave and lose her completely, so cheating serves as some weird compromise (which serves as the moral justification necessary to prevent cognitive dissonance)
@AYD_always@JosephineDocma I personally didn't get what the point of the film was. I share that critique for a fair bit of PTA's movies; for some reason I have trouble understanding what he's trying to say a lot of the time (which I usually dont really struggle with for other filmmakers).
@kittyysnaps@chxrsfilmss Movie release hype tends to lead to score inflation early on. I remember last year's One Battle After Another was sitting at a 4.5 and now it's at a considerably more modest 4.1. I haven't seen Obsession but I wouldn't be surprised if its score leveled out over time.
@Rextopiaxx@chxrsfilmss Isolated it's an OK action movie but as a sequel it loses absolutely everything that made the first one so unique. Also somehow looks visually way worse.
@o60m6@chxrsfilmss The whole scene at the end where the protagonist waves down a car to try to get in and escape and for some reason the driver gets out and runs around delaying the movie by 2 minutes just so she can wave down another car that she does use to escape this time is almost comical.
@NickNirmatAAA Nothing against Spike Lee (I love Do The Right Thing) but I have no clue why he keeps trying to remake acclaimed foreign films in general. Like you'd think he'd have learned from his attempt at remaking Oldboy.
@ThePerfectGoof@Caol_MacCormaic La La Land I agree with but Whiplash is definitely gonna stand the test of time. It's only really gotten more popular as time's gone on and there are cultural references everywhere (even my younger sister who doesn't watch movies has heard "not quite my tempo")
@AYD_always@Caol_MacCormaic Agreed with all except Parasite which is like the only best picture winner I never see anyone complain about. Haven't seen Get Out so can't speak for that one
@geebjoonho@TestikiIles@Caol_MacCormaic Decision to Leave especially when you consider how popular Park Chan-wook's been getting as of lately. By the end of his career if he doesnt completely fall off I can see a lot of his work getting more retrospective positive appraisal.
